1. Introduction
This installation guide for Hutton provides step-by-step instructions for installing the
Hutton™ plug-in, developed in the United Kingdom by Cognitive Geology for
Schlumberger’s Petrel™ E P Software Platform.

2. System Requirements
The Hutton plug-in has the following system requirements:
• Petrel 2017.x, 2018.x, 2019.x (64-bit) installed on the target machine before you start
the installation of Hutton. Note: only 64-bit versions of Petrel are supported.
• A dongle and valid license on your local computer or access to a local server.

Note: Ensure the Schlumberger Licensing utility is installed on your computer, which
should have been installed with Petrel.

The Hutton software is a plug-in and has the same hardware requirements as Petrel. See the
Petrel Installation Guide for more details.

2.1 Software compatibility

The Hutton plug-in is compatible with Petrel E P Software Platform 2017, Petrel E P
Software Platform 2018, Petrel E P Software Platform 2019.

3. Installation
This section will guide you through the installation of Hutton. If further guidance is required,
please contact support@cognitivegeology.com.

1. Save .pip file in a known location on the local machine.


2. Open the Ocean Plug-in Manager from within Petrel. Select the Install plug-in
button.

3. Navigate to the location where the .pip file is saved and select the file. Once the plug-
in is installed, select the Close button.

4. Close and re-open Petrel. In the License selection, select the Hutton Petrophysical
Modelling check box from the Ocean plug-ins list.

5. Upon successful installation, the Petrophysical modelling process will be listed in the
Ocean Plug-in Manager.

6. The Hutton Petrophysical Modelling process can be launched from the Property
Modelling ribbon in Petrel.

3.1 Installed Components

The Hutton plug-in will make the following changes to your system.

1. Add the following files to the folder Extensions\Hutton Petrophysical Modeling


Plugin_3.0.0.5398 in the Petrel E P Software Platform installation directory.

4. Uninstallation
1. Open the Ocean Plug-in Manager and expand the Hutton Petrophysical Modelling
Plugin. Select the Uninstall button.

The Hutton plug-in in the Ocean Plug-in Manager.

2. Select the Close button on the Uninstalling Plug-in dialog. Upon closing Petrel E P
Software Platform, the Hutton Petrophysical Modelling process and its components
from above would have been removed from the user’s environment.
