A. Issues with INSITE™ 7.4

PCID's

- It is becoming common for INSITE™ to be installed and registered with an

Administrator account, and then used with a Limited User account. On some
computers, INSITE™ does not have access to the same security settings on

Limited User accounts as it would on Administrator accounts. This causes

a different PCID to be displayed for the Limited User account after INSITE™

has been registered with the PCID displayed for an Administrator account.

It is recommended after installation to register the INSITE™ PCID displayed when

logging into the Limited User account.

- For Calibration Authorization passwords contact your Distributor with the

INSITE™ 7.4 PCID.

- New users can enter both the Basic and Functional Password when first opening

INSITE™. If the Basic is entered on the "New Functionality Password" window,

INSITE™ will open in Read Only. The Functionality Password will have to be

entered under the Tools > Options > Security window. (DB_G00149670)

Help and Fault Information System (FIS) Files

- Some Fault Information System (FIS) files may display a "Script Error" window when

opening the Fault Code troubleshooting steps. This has been seen on Windows 7

and Internet Explorer 8.

Work around: Click Yes or No on the Script Error window to open the

troubleshooting steps. (DB_G00152716)

Datalink Adapter Issues

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Do not substitute cables, except as indicated in the INLINE II Product
Announcement Bulletin.
- Do not use an extension cable on the Datalink side of the INLINE II adapter.
- Incompatible cables may damage the INLINE, INLINE I INLINE II and/or INLINE 4/5
adapter or personal computer and will void warranty.
- Incompatible cables may cause communication issues with INSITE™.
- INLINE II or INLINE 4/5 adapter may intermittently lose communication. If your
Datalink adapter has communication problems, disconnect power from the adapter
for 5 seconds and then reconnect. The INSITE™ program does not need to be shutdown.
- There is a Reset Adapter feature under the Tools - Datalink menu that will
correct some software communication errors with the INLINE II and INLINE 4/5.
- The main harness (backbone) has a maximum overall length of 40 meters.
- A J1939 stub, which can be a connection point for ECM's and/or the
INLINE II or INLINE 4/5 Datalink adapter, cannot exceed a maximum length of 1
meter.
- At each end of the backbone harness is a terminating resistor with a
nominal resistance of 120 Ohms, it will measure 60 Ohms when you measure
across the Datalink.
- The INLINE II and INLINE 4/5 Adapters should be connected to a continuous
battery power supply. When making adjustments with INSITE™, including calibration
download, the operator will be asked to switch the key off for 30 seconds.
If the adapter is getting its power from a power source dependent on the key
switch status, such as the lighter adapter inside the cab, the Adapter will lose
power, which will result in INSITE™ losing connection to the ECM. This will
require the operator to reconnect to the ECM and the adjustments might not
have been saved.
E. Version Compatibility
INSITE™ Software and Operating System Compatibility:
- INSITE™ 7.4 is compatible with the following operating systems:
Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Both 32-bit and 64-bit
versions are supported.
- Contact the local Cummins® Distributor to register your new INSITE™
Service Tool and receive a password.
F. Special Issues
Power Savers
- Turn off any power saver features when communicating with an ECM,
especially when downloading a calibration to an ECM. These commands
require the computer to communicate with the ECM, but do not require
you to interact with the computer. As a result, the power saver does
not recognize that a command is in progress and automatically turns
off the computer. This may disable the COM port, hard drive and other
hardware required for the calibration download process.
G. Suggestions and Tips
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- Do not turn off the PC while INSITE™ is running. Exit INSITE™ before

turning off the computer. Disk and database corruption can occur

if you do not exit INSITE™ before turning off the computer.

- If the PC CMOS battery is not working, please make sure you reset

the PC date and time before you attempt to open INSITE™.

- To back up all Work Orders and Images with INSITE™ 7.4, select the

"Export All" from the right click menu while highlighting any Image.

H. Saving Data From Previous Versions of INSITE™

- ECM Templates from earlier versions of INSITE™ 6.3A, 6.4, and 6.5 cannot

be used with INSITE™ 7.4. They can be printed.

- ECM Templates from INSITE™ 6.5.1, 6.5.2, 7.0 and 7.0 FP1/FP2 for the ISB CM2150,

ISC CM2150 and ISL CM2150 cannot be used with INSITE™ 7.4. They can be printed.

All other engine's templates can be used with INSITE™ 7.4.
