TITLE: SDG: Solutions Debate Game

ABOUT THE GAME: The game is a role - playing debate game that requires critical thinking and quick wit.
The game promotes the Sustainable Development Goals by making the players of the issues for each
goal. The game also deepens the understanding of the players and widens their perspective through the
integration of the role cards that they need to base their solutions. This game can be a good
introduction for lectures on SDGs even for people with no knowledge about the sustainable
development goals.

RULES:

1. This game requires a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 5 players per game.
2. Each player will be given role cards depending on the number of total players. Each role card has
a specific character that a player needs to base his actions and ideas from.

3. Once the cards have been dealt. 1 player will be the moderator of the game. The players take
turns in being the moderator. The game will end after the last player becomes the moderator.
4. For every start of the round, the designated moderator shall pick 1 card from the deck of SDG
Cards. The SDG Card contains three issues relevant to the SDG indicated.
5. Once the SDG Card is picked, the 4 competing players for the round shall pick their chosen role
for the round before the moderator reveals the SDG and the Issue.
6. The 4 competing players will be given 1 minute to think of a suggestion that will address the
issue for the round. The 4 competing players will then be given 30 seconds each to pitch their
ideas. NOTE: The idea must be based and relevant to their role card picked earlier.
7. The moderator for the round will then have 1 minute in total to ask questions to all the players
about the players.
8. The end of the round is the decision round; each competing player can give 1 point to who they
think gave the best solution for the issue on hand giving their reasons why they picked the
solution. NOTE: A player cannot give a point to his or her own solution.
9. The moderator is also the final decision maker of the round. He or she will give 3 points to who
he or she thinks gave the best pitch for the round and stating his or her reason for the decision
after.
10. The scores will then be tallied. This marks the end of the first round. The game continues until
the last player becomes the moderator.
11. The total score at the end of the game will be tallied. The player with the highest score shall be
the winner.
