TEACHING STRATEGIES FOR

ENGLISH SUBJECT

1. Visualization – this teaching strategy is applied as primary medium for teaching English so as to
create reflection papers, reaction papers, movie review and the like.
2. Cooperative Learning – this is applied during activities that are intended to be done by groups
(i.e. roleplay, debate, differentiated instruction)
3. Inquiry-based instruction – during English, we pose thought-provoking questions which will help
students to investigate on their own ideas helping them on their-problem solving skills.
4. Technology based – this is applied when using PPT presentations during class discussions
providing range of information that is not just found in the book.
5. Differentiation – this is when we provide different assigned tasks for each group intended to let
students explore different areas of knowledge – writing, acting, singing, etc.
6. Analyzing images – this is to lead students in a critical analysis of an image – through this, the
students will enhance their observational, interpretive and critical thinking skills.
7. Close reading protocol – during specified schedules, they have reading day as where I assign them
to read a specific story from their books with comprehension and will actually, enhance their
comprehension skills.
8. Vocabulary word analysis – applied for developing word recognition and broader knowledge for
unfamiliar words.
9. Subject integration – as English being universal to all. Sometimes, to widen the discussion and
area of knowledge, we tend to integrate English to other subjects.
10. Composing – this applies to tasks that will make the students write their own poem, essays, letters,
etc.
