Introduction –

Diverse groups and skill sets are important to creating an effective and
successful team. Different team building activities geared to skill sets and group
dynamics can help you make the team stronger over time. Practicing listening,
communication, organization and discussion are involved in many team work
exercises and are the cornerstones of a good professional work, youth or family
groups. From an old traditional game of telephone to a weekend group outing for a
round of paintball, the methods vary but the skills involved are the same.

Write a list of goals for your team work exercises. Think about what you want
to accomplish with this group that will require involvement in different ways from
each participant.

Divide into separate teams. Let them perform some strategy and goal-
oriented activities as these will allow them to develop their leadership structure
and carry out their plans.

• Separate the groups to work on the given activity.

• Give each group specific instructions how to accomplish the task.
• Establish time limit for them to finish the activity.
• Be time-bound, the group that exceeds the given time limit shall be
disqualified.

• When the time limit is up, let each group discuss the outcome of the activities
as a group.
• Let each group discuss the main problem encountered in accomplishing the
task.
• Let them discuss the major constraints that caused the main problem.

• Discuss and brainstorm ideas for improvement after the exercise is complete.
• Analyze what everyone has learned, their ability to adjust to the group and task
assigned and what elements can be used in varied group dynamics.

Team Working Activity

• Divide the group into 5-member teams.

• Give each one a long-sized bond paper.
• Let each one divide and cut the long-sized bond paper into 4 equal parts.
• Let the teams build a 5-storey structure out of those pieces of bond paper.
• No piece of paper shall be folded or applied with anything.
• They are to accomplish this task within 2 minutes times.
