ALDRIN BUCOY-ABDURAHIM

A Bridging Leader

“In every community, there is work to be done, In every nation, there are
wounds to heal, in every heart, there is the power to do it” has been a
favourite exhortation from a youth bridging leader who hails from an inter-
cultural and interreligious family of Bucoy and Abdurahim.

One of the proud children of Mr. Yahsil Araji Abdurahim and Ms. Allen
Arquiza Bucoy, he became instrumental in making a positive difference in
the lives of his family through his own initiative and being resourceful in
fulfilling his dream to be somebody in the future.

He started his leadership journey as a student leader of Divisoria


Elementary School by being active in the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and
being consistent officer of the class. He was very active as service awardee
in Grade II and then moved to be the Class Second Honor in Grades III and
IV before being the First Honor in Grade VI. Unfortunately he graduated as First Honorable Mention of
the 1998 Graduating Class.

He pursued High School at Zamboanga State College of Marine Science high School –Laboratory School
and finished as Class Valedictorian and earning various leadership merits because of his outstanding
involvement in school activities.

Getting to college, she served a term being a College Representative to the Sanggunian ng mga Mag-
aaral ng Ateneo de Zamboanga University and active volunteer of the Social Awareness and Community
Service Involvement office of Ateneo de Zamboanga University where he founded the Student Training
and Actualization Rolling Seminar (STARS) which provides students from other schools the opportunity
to undergo Ignatian Leadership. He became the President of the Engineering Society and Society of
Ateneo Scholars and later graduated BS Computer Engineering in 2007 as an Academic Scholar and
CHED Scholar.

He worked at the CITY Business Process Outsourcing Company at Makati City and later came back to
Zamboanga City to serve as a Youth Coordinator and Peace Education Coordinator of Peace Advocates
Zamboanga (PAZ) from 2007-2010 and later became the Executive Coordinator of Interreligious
Solidarity Movement for Peace up to 2013 and Secretary General of Golden Crescent Consortium of
Peace Builders and Affiliates Inc up to this date.

He became a Young Fellow of the Asian Institute of Management earning a Certificate after completing a
23- days journey on the Bridging Leadership Program called Tuloy-Tulay.

He co-founded the Youth Solidarity for Peace which became one of the Ten Accomplished Youth
Organization of the Philippines awarded in Malacanang for two-consecutive years and he represented
the organization to Bangkok Thailand and became an ASEAN AWARDEE in 2012.

He is an International Delegate to the Northern Illinois University in Dekalb Illinous United State of
America in 2009 as well as delegate to the Training Program of Young Leaders to Hiroshima Japan in
2011.

While working with PAZ back then‚ he enrolled himself to the College of Law of Western Mindanao State
University and finished the Law School in 2015. He became the President of the Alpha Rho Lambda and
Law Student Association and moved as President of the University Student Council- WMSU and served
as Student Regent- Member of the Board of Regents of Western Mindanao State University.

He founded the Action Bridges Aspirations (ABA) Trainings Inc. last March 2015 as a social enterprise
feeding leaders who are building leaders to community development‚ youth and nation- building. Now‚
he serves as the Founder and President of the emerging company that creates beautiful professionals
with a heart called ABA Trainings Inc.

He then became an International Fellow of the World Islamic Economic Fellow in Melaka Malaysia in
2017 while being the Alumni President of the Divisoria Elementary School Alumni Association.
