TEACHER NOTES

•  Print off pages as needed.

•  Write their name at the top.
•  Look at the target letter, saying the letter name and the letter
sound.
•  Trace over the letter with their finger (or a marker), following
the correct stroke order and direction.
•  Trace over the two words above the maze saying the word,
using the pictures as prompts.
•  Starting at the top left corner of the maze find and follow the
target letters until they arrive at the bottom right corner.
•  The maze can travel up, down, across or diagonally.
•  Occasionally there are two path choices such as in the
graphic below. Both are correct!

I hope your kids really enjoy these alphabet mazes!

DIFFERENTIATION

EASIER

Circle or cross off each target letter they can find. Try to follow
the way through the maze but if they can’t, look carefully at all
the letters and cross off the target letters as they see them.
When they’ve crossed out all they can find, look at the whole
maze to see if the way through is more apparent. Look more
closely if there are gaps in the ‘path’ to find the target letters
they’ve missed.

HARDER

Trace over the target letters as they’re found to get lots of letter
writing practice. Pay attention to the stroke order and direction
so the letters are being practiced effectively.

MORE CHALLENGING

Use different colored markers to trace over the other letters in

the maze. The other letters used are the following 3 letters in
the alphabet. For eg, if J is the target letter the other letters
used will be K, L and M.

Another good extension idea is to say the two target letter

words, for example, ‘jam’ and ‘jar.’ Then think of two words
starting with the other letters in the maze. For example,
kangaroo and kite, lion and little, monster and moon.
