Human System Cells

Generic Animal Cell Cardiac Smooth Muscle Cells
Generic Animal

The cardiac cell unlike the generic cell is an irregular ‘spindle shape.’ The cells also have a more mitochondria
to power the heart and have intercalated discs to attach the cells so information can pass faster. 1,2

The smooth cardiac cells have unnamed parts, like lysosomes and peroxisome. These things breaks down
proteins and fatty tissue. They break down particles and are not needed in the heart muscle.3,4,6
Smooth Cardiac Muscle Cell

This cell is part of the circulatory system. 2

The smooth cardiac muscle cell contracts the heart to pump blood. 2

It is striated, can have two centrally located nucleus, discs in the muscle fibers, and finally the abundance of
capillaries allows delivery of oxygen and nutrients. 5
