Integration Overview*

Avalara integrates with the Oracle Order Management and Oracle Receivables modules
in Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 to perform sales tax calculations.

For sales tax calculations, the Avalara-to-Oracle E-Business Suite Connector offers the

SOAP web services to pass messages from Oracle E-Business Suite to Avalara and back
to Oracle E-Business Suite. The integration will install a custom schema with all solution
objects.
The following will be the sequence of events for each Avalara tax/address operation:
 Avalara-to-Oracle E-Business Suite Connector Version 3 retrieves the profile
options from Oracle Database, which includes URL, account number, license
key, and company code (such as Avalara AvaTax account details), and then calls
the remote method of AvaTaxRemote interface with the document/line
parameters and profile options values.
 The remote object (AvaTaxPoint) method gets invoked, which constructs the
SOAP client objects and makes the call to the Avalara WebService listening on
the URL.
 Avalara WebService returns the appropriate data with tax calculation/address
validation information, which is then transformed into an XML and sent back to
the Avalara-to-Oracle E-Business Suite Connector, which then processes the
response object and returns the calculated tax rate and amount for the various
jurisdictions such as state/county/city/special to the Oracle E-Business Tax
module.
The Avalara integration provides Oracle E-Business Suite customers with a cost-
effective automated transaction tax solution.
