large rock. So, their troubles were not coming to an end.
(c) The boys were dismayed because neither they could reach home as the tide had come in too far and

3. India of My Dreams
All of us being inhabitants or citizens of our country naturally dream of what kind of a country we desire
for. We even dream of building the kind of country we want. The India of my dreams may appear imprac-
ticable and a little too imaginative to many but then this is what I want my country to be. In the land of my
dreams, the suffering of millions and the burden of poverty will be no more. The ever-widening gap be-
tween the rich and poor will be bridged. Education will be free and compulsory and there will be complete
law and order. Crime and yiolence will be no more because reason will reign all over. Every citizen will be
free to express his/her ideas. No one would be deprived of justice. Everyone will live with dignity. There will
be equal rights for everyone. The country will be run by capable and able youths elected democratically.
Bureaucracy will be honest and prompt in their duty. There would be no child-labour, no exploitation and
no one will sleep hungry. Science and technology will trickle down to every village, town and city. Com-
puter literacy will be cent per cent.
Thus, India of my dreams would be strong and self-reliant economically and strong in its defence, politi-
cally astute, socially civilized, non-communal, secular, educated and united.

5. There should be an aim of life. A life without an aim is useless. A definite aim leads to success in life. 'I
would like to see myself as an army officer ten years hence.'
Many people educate their children aimlessly. Students themselves do not know what they are going to
be. They pass one examination after another. The result is that they found themselves in a hopeless
situation.
As regards myself, I want to be an army officer. I am preparing mentally as well as physically for it. I hope
to pass my academic examinations upto the intermediate with good marks and then I shall appear for
NDA. I am sure that I shall definitely compete the test successfully and shall become an army officer.
This is what I want to be. This is the dream of my life. It is my real aim. An army officer's importance is
much more than we see in watching· nation's boundary. The duties of an army officer are challenging and
he looks smart in his uniform. As an army officer I shall render a great service to my country. I pray to God
to fulfil my dream and make my life worth-living.
