the Aim
c. Recognize the importance of waves as the cause of earthquakes.

B. Presentation of the
Lesson
For you to familiarize more the anatomy of a wave. We will have an activity. This
1. Activity
activity is entitled “Anatomy of a wave.” You will answer the activity for 15 minutes.
The student’s will present their output based on their result on the activity.
The teacher will facilitate to the presentation of the students and asked some questions
2. Analysis based on the activity given.
The teacher will unlock the difficult terms encountered by the students throughout the
activity.
“Word Twist”
3. Abstraction/
Arrange the jumbled set of words. There are guide sentences that will help you to
Deepening
answer it quickly.
Let’s See Waves!
a. Place the basin filled with water on top of a table. Wait for the water to become still.
Create vibration by regularly tapping the surface of the water with your index finger.
You would be able to see the subsequent crest of the water waves. Draw the water
waves as you see them from the top of the basin. Label one wavelength in your drawing.
b. Increase the rate of the vibrations you create by tapping the surface of water rapidly.
What happens to the wavelength of the waves?
A. How do you measure the frequency of a wave?
4. Application
1. The frequency of a series of periodic waves is just is the number of waves that pass a
particular point every one second.
The unit of frequency is the hertz (Hz); 1 Hz= 1 cycle/second.
2. It is also useful to consider the period of a wave, which is the time required for one
complete wave to pass a given point. The period of each wave is period=1/frequency
B. How do you measure the speed of a wave.
The wave of a speed is the distance traveled by the wave per second.
Wave speed= distance traveled per second= frequency x wavelength.
I want you to answer these questions honestly.
C. Values Integration 1. How can the knowledge of anatomy waves help us in our daily life?
2. How can you recognize the importance of waves as the cause of earthquakes?
Direction: Write the letter of the correct answer.

V. Assessment
For items 1-3, which letter represents the part of a wave that is asked?
1. Amplitude
2. Trough
3. Crest
4. It is a region where a medium is spread apart, thus maximizing the distance.
A. Rarefaction B. Compression C. Amplitude
5. It is a region where a medium is pressed together in a small amount of space.
