INTRODUCTION

Throughout history, from the past and the present civilization, there's a drastic change in modernization.

New innovative concepts have developed, Advancing the way of our living. A Breakthrough of discoveries has

come up and yet to come. Research plays an important role, seeking answers and revelations. It is one of the

relevant tools to come up with ideas. The creative and systematic work created a huge difference in our society

and made an impact on our lifestyle. Because of research, we can find alternative ways to live out the

complicated things.

With its capability to answer unresolved questions, analysts recognized this as a powerful skill of

experience. Academics agree that research experiences are important for students to foster critical thinking,

appraisal skills, and understanding of research required for evidence-based practice. However, it is also

recognized that many students are single-mindedly focused on and inherently not interested in, or even

positively disposed towards, research. Thus, we came up with the topic of The Experiences of senior high

school students at Arellano University Juan Sumulong Campus in conducting research.

Research is defined as a process of systematic questioning that requires collection of data;

documentation of sufficient and appropriate evidence; and analysis and interpretation of that information. This

should be in compliance with the best fit methodologies set by specific professional fields and academic

disciplines. Additionally, this comprise creative and systematic work undertaken in order to increase the pool of

information including culture and society, new discovery and experiences of available knowledge.

Research has been vital in every aspect of life. This also had raised the bar when the Philippines had

implemented the K-212 program. Research was deepened to understand the need of having the K-12 program

in the Philippines. There are only 3 countries that have the 10 year education cycle namely, the Philippines,

Angola and Djibouti. This would be one of the turning point that the Philippines has revolutionized the

education system in the Philippines. Therefore, as mandated by the Republic Act 10533, or the Enhanced Basic

Education of 2013 or most known as the K-12 Basic Education Program, the Philippines embraced the new

curriculum to be globally competitive and transforming the country into a better living.
Due to this, K-12 students has sets of preparatory subjects which prepares them on their chosen career

path on college. This is divided into strands which are the STEM, ABM, GAS, HUMMS and ICT. One of the

subject that a K-12 student that may encounter is practical research. The question is why? Is research for

students important?

Based on studies, research activities by undergraduates are a powerful way of enhancing medical

students' basic skills and attitude necessary for future professional practice. Inquiry and an evidence are

complimentary processes in that they include recognition of important questions, search for the best research

evidence, critical appraisal of the evidence, and application of the evidence to practice. Due to this, it gives

students a wide horizon on the actuality of things around. Students can diverse the box of unknown and

develops the love for knowledge and professional skepticism.

There are lots of beneficial effect of research on students and people but not all success has no

bittersweet moments along the way. Research is one of the most tedious project that a student may encounter. It

takes more time and effort as well. One of the common reason if this hardship is that students are accustomed

to immediate gratification, and therefore can be overwhelmed by tasks that require time-consuming research. It

must be new, so you need to find things ideas that haven't been tried out, and solutions that no one else saw yet.

Another is from the blog of A3nm which he list down 4 problems encountered when having research (1) No

one knows how to solve your problems, so no one can really help you. (2) No one knows whether things will

work, so there is a fair chance your hard work will not pay off no matter what, and it usually takes many

iterations to solve anything. (3) No one directly needs you to solve the problem. (4) No one's directly looking at

you and waiting for you to do the job.

Having this all said research is really hard yet fulfilling work that a student and everyone has

encountered. People just need the element of hard work, patience and camaraderie. This research would focus

on the Experiences of Grade 11 students of Arellano University Juan Sumulong Campus having Practical

Research as one of their Subject.
