I. Brief History/Background of School with Organizational Chart

World Citi Colleges Educational System consist of three campuses –


WCC Antipolo, WCC Caloocan, and WCC Quezon City.
Of the three campuses, WCC-Quezon City is hailed as the mother campus. It
used to be known as Quezon City Medical Center and Colleges, Inc. (QCMCC);
and before that, as Medical Center of Quezon City (MCQC) as evidenced by its
Certificate of Incorporation issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission on
June 15, 1971. Subsequent to MCQC’s incorporation, a permit to operate a 100-
bed capacity hospital was issued by the Bureau of Medical Service of the
Department of Health.
In June 1979, its Articles of Incorporation were amended changing its
corporate name to Quezon City Medical Center and Colleges, Inc. (QCMCC).
Consequently, it established its first college – the College of Nursing.

The New Management


There was a change of ownership and management in March 1986. The
inspiring leadership of the Guico family ushered in a new vision and fresh
enthusiasm that gave impetus to the rapid and consistent growth of the institution.
From school year 1986 to the present, remarkable changes have been realized
through the concerted managerial acumen of the dynamic corporate leadership of
Quezon City Medical Center and Colleges.

Transitions and Trajectories
From an old two-storey hospital building, the medical center stands tall and
proud in its imposing 15-storey edifice serving hundreds of patients per day. The
reputation of the hospital as a respected health care provider in the country is
proven by the unfailing trust and confidence of satisfied clients and patients.
In the school division, new courses were offered. These include
baccalaureate degrees in Physical Therapy, Radiologic Technology, Nutrition and
Dietetics, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Hotel and
Restaurant Management and Psychology. It also offers courses in Midwifery,
Respiratory Therapy, Health Aide and Medical Transcription. Many QCMCC
alumni topped their respective Board Exams.
Indeed, QCMCC was envisioned to be a center of excellence in health care
and education so that it will be preferred for its innovativeness, dynamism,
competence and pro-activeness, admired in the way it cares for people and
esteemed for its compassion for everyone.
Nationwide, QCMCC is respected for its integrity and social responsibility.
It is the country's first Medical Hotel, a mission field, and a living testimony of
God's goodness.
In the year 2001, as a tribute to world class Filipino professionals, Quezon
City Medical Center and Colleges became World Citi Inc. Its twin institutions are
now known as World Citi Medical Center and World Citi Colleges.

And Now, the WCC Education System

World Citi Colleges is an emerging educational system with sister


institutions and campuses. These include WCC in Caloocan City (formerly Holy
Trinity School) and WCC in Antipolo City (formerly Westminster College)
Holy Trinity School is a long-established institution in basic education
aspiring to venture in tertiary education. It was founded by Mrs. Virginia Datiles
Vda. de Lizardo in 1969. The school was "orphaned" when President Datiles died
in 1995. The Board of Directors turned over the management and ownership of the
school to the Guico family in 1997 and since then, it has grown by leaps and
bounds.
Westminster Colleges of the Philippines was established last June 17, 2000.
The institution offers baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration,
Accountancy, Elementary and Secondary Education, Criminology and Nursing.
Under the supervision of the WCC Education System, the college aims to develop
young people who will become the country's leaders in the future.
The history of World Citi Colleges is a continuing saga of transitions that
validate its stability and trajectories that prove its aggressive and innovative spirit.
Rooted in its calling "to serve and to care," it continues its purpose-driven pursuit
of excellence.

MISSION
WCC Education System is committed to develop World Citizens who
contribute to the advancement of humanity by providing excellent and holistic
education with a firm Christian foundation that is relevant, responsive and
outcomes-based in curriculum, global in scope, nationalistic in perspective, and
culturally diverse in orientation.

By the year 2020, the WCC Education System envisions itself as one of the
leading providers of industry-relevant, highly competent graduates with a passion
for improving society through:

II. Summary of the Practice Teaching Experience
I humbly state that with my teaching experience at WCC, I became an
awardee/recipient of Best Professor Award twice i.e. CY 2014 and Cy 2017. I have
always valued the role I play as a teacher in the growth of my students. While the
importance of academic growth in students is obvious, I also recognize the
importance of each student’s social and emotional growth as well. As a teacher, I
have a powerful influence on my students’ growth in each of these areas of their
live.
When reflecting on this semester of student teaching, there have been so
many challenges, so many celebrations, and so much that I have learned. I have
been pushed beyond my comfort zone, and I have grown as a teacher immensely. It
is hard for me to only talk about a few of the takeaways that I have gained from
this semester!

First, I have learned the importance of messing up. I know, this sounds
crazy, but I have found myself so nervous about screwing something up. I expected
to always plan the perfect lesson, explain everything perfectly, and have everything
go smoothly and as planned. And let me be the first to say, this is rarely the case. I
have learned how important it is to accept that we are not perfect teachers, and
neither are our cooperating teachers! We all have things to learn, and my student
teaching experience has taught me how to learn from my mistakes rather than
letting them eat away at me. I learned something from my cooperating teacher and
from the students almost every day, and being open to this and vulnerable allowed
me to grow, adapt, and think on my feet! Having these experiences is the true life
of a teacher.

With being honest about my mistakes and imperfections, I was able to also
form stronger connections with the students. This is another takeaway from the
semester. I have always valued forming strong relationships with my students in
order to create the best learning environment for them, but I was able to truly see
the value of this throughout the semester. Being the first placement where I was
able to be with the students every day of the week, I was able to see the growth of
my relationships with them from day to day over the course of the semester. I was
honestly intimidated working with older, gifted students coming in, but I worked
hard to break down their walls and get to know them as individuals. I have loved
getting to know each of my students like, dislike, strengths, and weaknesses. I
believe that this has helped me better teach them and has made my classroom a
happier place to learn!

Finally, I have learned the importance of having an open mind. You can walk
into any classroom and see completely different environments, teaching styles,
student personalities, curriculum, resources, etc. It is so easy to have your own
ways and your own approaches to teaching, disregarding anything else that you
encounter. I have learned that opening up to approaches and styles that I am not
particularly used to is beneficial to help me learn more ways that I can help my
students and to also learn more about what I like and dislike as a teacher. Rarely
does anyone have a perfect student teaching placement. I am fortunate to have
enjoyed mine, but I have also learned that there is value in learning about what you
do not want to do as a teacher just as much as learn what you do want to do. It is so
important to continue being open minded so that you can leave room to grow into a
more effective teacher!

I have really enjoyed my student teaching experience despite all of its


hardships and challenges. I found myself in very low points but also in very high
points throughout the semester, but I can clearly see how it has all grown me as a
teacher, and I feel as though I can confidently walk into whatever classroom I will
be teaching in next year. I cannot believe that the time has come for my own
classroom; I can hardly wait!

As the semester is winding down, I have been truly experiencing one of the
best parts of teaching, the relationships that are formed. I am becoming so sad to be
leaving these kids soon, and I am reminded of why I love this job so much. As
teachers we spend the majority of the day with our students. While they may drive
us crazy many days, it is inevitable that there will be relationships formed and
connections made that leave lasting impressions. I will miss these kids and the
adventures that they bring to me each day.

I have learned the value of making these connections from day one. My
relationships with these kids have been building each day, and it is amazing to see
how far they’ve come. I have learned how intentionally forming these relationships
plays such an important role in the environment and community of the classroom.
Because I was able to form these connections, getting to know my students on an
individual level, I was able to see more success, more engagement, and more
collaboration in my classroom. I have built mutual respect and rapport within my
classroom, and I have seen the benefit of these relationships in several ways. First,
I had a student simply tell me how great of a teacher I was and how they want me
to stay. This was so incredible to hear, and I was so touched by this comment. Also,
I have seen students opening up to me and instinctively coming to me with their

comments and questions. I have loved watching this grow with my relationships
formed. They truly consider me their teacher and trust me and my abilities enough
to come to me rather than my cooperating teacher. I know that this is developed
from my relationships with them and the openness that I have tried to instill from
the very beginning. For example, we were working on vocabulary words, and each
student would come to me with their questions. Whether that be, “Does this
definition work?” or “What do you think of my stick figure drawings?” I have
loved getting to experience the benefits of forming strong relationships with my
students.

As a future licensed teacher, I cannot wait to build these relationships with


my own students. I realize the importance of forming this open and loving
community, and I intend to begin intentionally forming these relationships and
building respect and rapport in my classroom from day one. Although the end of
the semester is sad and sentimental, I am happy to see how far I’ve come as a
teacher and the development of my relationships with the students.

The above pictures show my characteristic as not only their professor, but
also a friend. “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the

world.” The teacher imparts education hence the role of the teacher is of paramount
importance both in the present and the future of a student.
Teachers serve the society by instructing and guiding countless students
through the different stages of their growth. They prepare them to take on the
world which they are a part of. The teacher must play different roles in a student’s
life. He must be his friend stirring him clear from murky waters, he must be his
guide helping him find his true calling in life, and he must be a philosopher
enlightening his young audience about the ways of the world.

Teachers look after the best interests of the students. It is their goal to raise
the kids to be good citizens and good human beings. In the early years when the
student is first exposed to people outside his family, he is scared and frightened. He
hopes to find in his teacher a friend who will function as his surrogate mother away
from home. He is also looking for someone with authority to lead the way.

As the students grow the teachers play a very important role in shaping the
students future. The seeds are sown when the mind is young. It is the teacher who
must now not only help the student decipher the facts and the figures, he must be
his confidant and his counsel. It is important that a teacher befriend his students
because students respond better to friendship than to authority. If the student
perceives his teacher as his friend he will not be hesitant in airing his doubts.

A friend is someone who understands you and someone you can depend on.
If the teacher assumes the role of a friend, learning will no longer be a task but a
pleasure. The growing up years are very painful for students.

III. Assessment of the Practice Teaching Program

A. New knowledge, attitudes, and skills acquired

Summing all the experiences I’ve got in my practice teaching, I can say that
it is really worthy for me as I end this education. School personnel particularly my
cooperating teachers contributes lots of knowledge to me as I spent my time with
them. It made me easy to adjust myself in associating and working with different
colleagues and made me always be prepared for the challenge I may undergo in the
future field. These experiences strengthened the foundation of my profession, the
teaching profession that I am aiming to be.

Practice Teaching Program is a form of individualized training and allows


the
individual requiring training to receive the necessary knowledge and to develop the
required skills on the job.

They say that nothing beats experience, as my professor would say, as the
perfect learning tool.

For some students, Practice Teaching Program gives them a taste of the real
world – a glimpse of what lies ahead after they graduate. One of the most
important things I’ve learned is that talent alone is not enough. It is important, but
it is no guarantee of success. One must also be hardworking and should practice
self-discipline. Sacrifice is important, too.

The training inside the company is learning experience each day. I was able
to understand that everything that was thought inside the school can be a tool that
can be used in future career. As I was working as a trainee at WCC, I learned to
become a hard-working person. Time to complete the output product is not
important, but the quality. I also learned to follow the instructions as what the
superiors said and to accept opinion that they suggested. At the school, being late is

better than absent. But as what I learned, being absent is better than being late.
Being absent can be a cause of emergency situations like sickness, unpredicted
travels and phenomena, while, being late is a cause of misbehavior and unable to
manage the time. Lastly, I learned that on-the-job training is not just only a subject
to be passed or a requirement to be completed but on-the-job training is an
opportunity to show what skills, talents and techniques that the student learned
from the school and also an opportunity to experience the life outside the campus;
serving companies like a professional on the field of the students ‘specialization.

B. Theories actually seen in practice

In the traditional, cohort-based program all students commented


unfavorably on the split between the theory and the practical parts of the course.
The split was profoundly felt by all students interviewed. Typically, they indicated
that practical activities were valued as supporting their espoused career goals.
Theory, however, was seen as an unnecessary obstacle imposed on them by
“academics”. One student stated “teachers should teach what is done out in the
field . . . . the good teachers are those who know what it is like out in the field . . . .
we don’t need those who teach like university professors.” Additionally, a catch
phrase voiced by several students in their interviews was “an ounce of practical is
worth a pound of theory.”

In theory, competency-based education better meets individual learning


needs. Such a program can be more easily tailored to meet students’ strengths and
weaknesses with flexibility in determining a student’s needs. Students have greater
control of the method of learning and the pace at which they learn. Additionally,
because evaluation is more individualized, assessment can be more closely linked
to what is required, rather than being restricted to easily marked tests. Particularly
important, with respect to adult technical education, is the opportunity for students
to receive credit for previous experience and knowledge through a prior learning
assessment

C. Feedback that can be given to the school

I don’t have much to say about the school but I’ll choose to state my
feedback. Well the company was stable. The facilities are great. The ambiance and
environment was spectacular. The employees are nice and friendly. The bosses
were very approachable and kind. The security personnel were fine with me
because they joke around. The company was good in maintaining their
accounts and customers. They provide customer assurance and care.
They help the community. They have equipment’s that can respond to any
calamity. Over all I enjoyed my internship in the World Citi College. The school
taught me a lot.

The mission and vision of the company is also great; it really reflects the
needs of the Filipino citizen especially to the youth. It offers vocational courses
that can help the youth to find work or build up their own business.

In that way, it will lessen the population of unemployed individuals. But


as I observe, the processing of its transaction and others are sometimes delayed
due to many unfinished transactions. The workers are minimal, and the works
are exceeding its normal worker. It leads to unbalanced ratio of work, they lack
of manpower. If only they have much worker or officials that only work to
specific job at a time, they can render its service with utmost confidentiality
and transactions will be process on time. And also with their worker, some of
the workers don’t do immediately their work, they will just wait until the
deadline is near.

And when it is almost the deadline, that’s the time they will tend to the
work, sometimes lead to many erasure and errors of data they put on their

reports. The result, some of the transaction will be delayed because the worker
will be invalid at the moment.

Lastly, the most important attributes that our supervisor taught us is self –
confidence. A person's confidence is based upon one's knowledge of the job, and
most importantly, one's own personal belief in his or her abilities. Confidence
begets confidence. A weak or unsure supervisor will not inspire confidence in the
people around him or her. A supervisor who demonstrates his or her knowledge,
and the confidence to use that knowledge, will usually inspire others to attempt to
gain and use the same knowledge. Even though we are only trainees, they don’t
treat us like others. And as a trainee we don’t feel uncomfortable as we worked
with them. They also encourage us to go on with our studies until
we become Professionals.

D. Benefits gained
I got a lot of benefits from the company, co-interns, and superiors. I gained
respect from my co-interns and superiors. I’ve become more intra-personal
person. I learned how to deal with

Practice Teaching Program - this type of training can help students to


become more familiar with the realities of working; in some cases, Practice
Teaching Program may lead to a stable and fulfilling career. Students learn
discipline, organization, and people skills while they train out in the workforce.
Since Practice Teaching Program is supervised by real employees and students as
well, in real life work situations, anything can happen, and students must learn "on
their feet". Sometimes, this sink or swim method of learning can be quite
beneficial. Students will adjust to working, and they will gain invaluable
experience that they can take with them as they move forward with future careers
and education.

E. Problems encountered

The only problem you should have during ON THE JOB training is lack of
self-esteem. You are being trained you are not expected to know everything in one
day. Experience is gained through time. The longer you do something the more you
learn. The faster you gain knowledge & become a productive employee.

There are various problems that I encounter within the first month I work
in, but most of them are repeated actions, such as error in logging in and
logging out. But I overcome these problems, because it’s just the same old
routine every day, so I easily adjust and remember my errors.

Working with the students and co – faculty is also a challenging and yet a
helpful experience in my study as there were times that I encountered different
problems in the school adjustments especially with these large number of students.
But through these experiences, I learned to be flexible in working with the different
people and learned to obey certain role implemented by the school. I learned to
respect with my fellow professor and gained respect from them. The important
thing is my love and passion in teaching intensified upon working with my
surroundings. All this I can say that I really love teaching. I am grateful that God
sent me my instructors, professors, and mentors. Because of them, I can
conceptualize life versus teaching. This is what comes in my conception, I don’t
want teaching in order to leave rather I live in order to teach.
