TIPS TO WRITE A SPEECH / TALK

GUIDELINES
1. Firstly, you must know the occasion of the speech to be given
Example:
- Speech / talk of welcome/ farewell/ congratulate/ thank
- Speech on Teacher’s Day Celebration
- Speech on Road Safety Campaign
2. Secondly, you must know your audience so that you can set the tone of your speech.
3. Next, you should greet your audience. Make sure you know the important people attending your
speech.
4. After greeting the audience you have to introduce yourself. You can mention your name and
position (if necessary)
5. Introduce the topic and purpose of your speech.
6. Write out your speech using all the notes/ points given with proper elaboration or example.

WHEN YOU WRITE OUT A SPEECH, YOU NEED TO CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING
POINTS

The pictures and short notes below show the various road safety tips that should be emphasised
among students. As the President of the Road Safety Club, you have been asked to give a speech
during the school assembly about “Road Safety Tips” to avoid accidents.
When writing your speech:
- you may use the notes
- elaborate on the given notes to make it more interesting
- add any other relevant information
- write in 120 words
