I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of 60-minute discussion, learners should be able to perform the following
with at least 80% proficiency level:
a. identify the different Festivals in the Philippines;
b. create/perform some basic steps of Philippine Festivals; and
c. appreciate the significant social functions and purposes of Philippine Festivals.
III. PROCEDURE
A. REVIEW
Let the students recall the past lesson.
B. MOTIVATION
Shows picture of different Philippine Festivals.
Let the students describe each picture.
Ask: What do you think the picture shows?
C. PRESENTATION
Today we are going to find out the different festivals in the Philippines.
D. DISCUSSION
Show the student some pictures of specific festivals in a certain place in the
Philippines.
Let them identify the characteristics of each festival.
Ask: why do you think these festivals are being celebrated?
E. GENERALIZATION
Ask: What are the different festivals in the Philippines and their characteristics?
Why are they being celebrated?
IV. EVALUATION
Identify the following festivals in the Philippines.
1. It is a festival held every third Sunday of January in honor of Sto. Niño in the
island and town Kalibo, Aklan. “Hala Bira!”is the sound associated with this
festival. (Ati-Atihan)
2. It is the Davao city’s celebration of good harvest. (Kadayawan)
3. It celebrates the epic story of town in Legazpi City, Albay with three legendary
heroes: Baltog, Bantong and handyong. (Ibalong)
4. It is an annual colorful festivity during Holy Week at the Island of Marinduque.
(Moriones)
5. It is a ceremonial worship dance in honor of the Holy Cross. (Sublian)
