MORTUI VIVOS DOCENT

( THE DEAD TEACH THE LIVING )

GENERAL RULES AT THE DISSECTING ROOM.

MORTUI VIVOS DOCENT ( THE DEAD TEACH THE LIVING ) is an

universal basic principle that must always be remembered by every medical
students and those who study Anatomy on cadaver.
Universally, MORTUI VIVOS DOCENT means that medical students
learn from the dead so the cadavers also become their teacher.
Based on MORTUI VIVOS DOCENT every medical student who
works on cadavers must obey Code of Ethic of Anatomy as follows :
Students :
1. MUST prepare him / her self for Laboratory practice, including :
1.1. Learn the Lab. Manual accordingly
1.2. Bring along Anatomy dissecting instruments ( minimum 1 set for
each group )
1.3. Bring along Lab. Manual, Anatomy atlas and ( if necessary )
anatomy lecture materials
1.4. Wear the required Laboratory dress properly
2. MUST respect the cadavers as they respect their teacher.
3. MUST NOT make fun of cadavers or parts of the cadavers whatever
the condition of the cadavers or parts of the cadavers might be.
4. MUST NOT throw part of the cadaver if his / her fellow student wants to
borrow the specimen.
5. MUST give / take directly the specimen from his / her fellow student if
he / she wants to lend / borrow the specimen.
6. MUST NOT damage cadavers or parts of the cadavers on purpose or
for fun.
7. MUST work very carefully to avoid accidents from dissection
instruments.

WEEK THREE
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 17, AND 19 2015

TOPIC : REVIEW OF MEDIASTINUM, LUNGS, AND BRONCHIAL

TREE (ARBOR BRONCHIAL)

COMPETENCY AREA: 5 (APPLICATION OF ANATOMY CQ RESPIRATORY

SYSTEM AS BASIC SCIENCE FOR RESPIRATORY BLOCK)
COMPETENCY LEVEL: 4A (ABLE TO IDENTIFY)
LEARNING OBJECTIVES :
After finished laboratory practice Students are able to identify:
1. Geoss anatomy of the lungs
2. Trachea
3. Tracheal bifurcation
4. Principals (primary) bronchus
5. Difference between right and left primary bronchus
6. Position of anatomy structures at pulmonary hilum
7. Differenciation of right and left lungs from pulmonary hilum

ATTENTION FOR STUDENTS:

To achieve the learning objectives Students at Dissecting Room do the

following procedures:

1. Identify at the specimen trachea and bronchial tree. Look for:

1.1. Trachea

1.3. Principal/ primary bronchus (bronchus principalis/ primaries)
à dari bifurcation tracheae sampai ke hilus
à Setelah hilus jadi bronchus lobaris
1.3.1. What is the difference between right and left principal bronchus?

Dextra Sinistra
Lebih vertical Horizontal
Wider
Shorter
1.3.2. What is the clinical concequency of that difference?
à Makanya yang dextra lebih mudah dimasukin corpus alienum
(benda asing) à dipengaruhi gravitasi

1.4. Lobar bronchus (bronchus lobaris)

1.5. Segmental bronchus (bronchus segmentalis). What is the difference
between the right and left segmental bronchus?
2. Review again the achievement of the whole Laboratory objectives of
Respiratory block.

SPECIMENS:
1. Cadaver
2. Plastinates
