TOPIC: TO SET LAYOUT OF A HOUSE
ROOM BY OFFSET METHOD USING
PHYTHAGORAS THEOREM.

OBJECT:
To set a layout of a house room by offset method using phythagoras theorem.

APPARATUS:
Tape 50m or 164 foot,10 Ranging Arrows,4 Ranging Rods,Field Book.

THEORY:
In layout of rooms of a house , there needs perfection in measuring and fixing boundries of various
rooms accurately on a ground . It can be precisely done by offset method and using pythagoras
theorem. By making a base line and fixing perpendicular offsets and by cheking readings by Pythagoras
theorem ,layout of rooms can be set accurately on a ground.

PROCEDURE:
1. Make a base line and set perpendicular lines by using optical square.
2. Measure the distance of each side of offset and fix the boundary of building.
3. After fixing boundary , fix arrows at required distance along perpendicular line for fixing
boundries of rooms in a house.
4. After fixing boundries of various rooms in a house , measure the length and diagonals of each
side of a room and check them by using pythagoras theorem.
5. Note all measurements in a field book and check again the lengths of all sides of rooms by
pythagoras theorem.
6. Now, mark the boundary of each room in a house by using lime or chalk.
