Assume rise of step = 150 mm,

tread = 300 mm, width of stair = 2.1 m, and

weight of finishes = 0.75 kN/m2.

Use M20 concrete and Fe 500 steel.

Assume mild exposure.

3600
Number of riser in each flight = =12
150∗2

Number of treads in each flight =12-1=11

R = 150, T = 300 mm

Hence, √R2 + T 2 = √1502 + 3002 =335.41 mm

Gradient of staircase, tan θ = 150/250 = 0.5; hence, θ = 31°.

Effective span = 11*0.3+1.8 = 5.1 m

Assume a waist slab thickness as 200 mm

Assuming 20 mm clear cover

(Table 16 of IS 456) and 12 mm main bars,

Effective depth, d = 200 -20 - 12/2 = 174 mm

Loads on going of stair (on projected plan area)

Self-weight of waist slab = 25 * (0.2 * 335.4/300) = 5.59 kN/m2

Self-weight of steps = 25*( 0.15 / 2) = 1.88 kN/m2

Finishes (given) = 0.75 kN/m2

Imposed load (as per IS 875 Part 2) = 5.00 kN/m2

Total load = 5.59+1.88+0.75+5 =13.22 kN/m2

Factored load = 13.22 * 1.5 = 19.83 kN/m2
