SCENE 1. Int/Day/Aangan
Sattu/Maasaab/Daddo

Hands are cutting betel nut from Sarota… Pan Daan is open…she goes on cut cut
cut …!.. the sarota making a irritating tone ... bringing out the inner irritation of
maa saab … …Daddo with the noise understands that Maa Saab is angry…Laying
on the charpoy she says- 100 dayne mari to yeh teeno payda hui…Naaspeetiyay…
unka gussa is sarotey pey kyun nikaal rahi hai …
Maa saab …puts the paan in her mouth n says angrily .. sahi samjha amma ..chaali
..chuna … katha mila key munh main dali toh pal main ghul mil jayegi , ek rang
go jayengey .. lekin ye teeno ittey saal sey is ghar main ghul mil nahi nahi paayi
hai .. all they want is their separate identities ..abhi baithi ghar todney ki baat kar
rahi hongi ..
Daddo ..kyun inki baton ko dil sey lagati hai ..paan key peek ki tareh thuk dey
inhey man sey
Maasaab ..sighs .. merey beton ki jeevan sangini hai , laad sey laayi thi ghar main
..laad sey rakhna chahu hu .. but they always mess up ..inkey gol gol pench meri

Tabhi Sattu enters holding a bundle of Garam Jalebi and Dahi… Maa Saab aur
uski favorite…Daddo asks- arri Kaun si chudayl aa gayi , saas ko sata key ji nahi
bhara ,ab mujhey sataney aa gai ..…! Maa Saab smiles and replies- Yeh to mere
Sattu ke khushboo hai…
N she turns and at door stands sattu , smiling
Daddo concludes- saath mein garma garam jalebi ki bhi... mere laddu laaya ki
nahi??
Sattu enters and replies- bhala pappan halwaiyee ..aapkey laddu bina janey deta
mujhey .. he ! Hands over a sweet box to Daddo…daddo happy- bhagwaan ko
chadhaungi…In naspeetitiyon se mera palla chhote jaldi…Sattu gives Maasaab
the Jalebi packet… Maa Saab refuses to eat- Mann nahi hai …! Sattu opens the
packet and takes out a jalebi and Maasaab ko deta hai…saying
Man nahi hai toh ab bana lo .. betey key haath ka meetha maa kaisee mana
kareygi …
Maasaab smiles .. terey pyaar ki chaashni jo hai usmain

She takes the jalebi n says ..lekin Maa apne bacche ko bina khilaye kaise kha sakti
hai… Sattu smiles and replies- saath saal bike accident key baad paleg par pada
tha aapka sattu .. bahut sewa kit hi aapney ..din raat subah sham ek kar di thi ..
kaisee bhool sakta hu main ..ab merea time hai aapki sewa karney ka .. sattu key
jeevan ka ab har pal maa key naam …

Mother gets emotional .. laad sey uskey balon pey hatah ferti hai n says ..dnt
remind me of that bad time ..i hope u remain healthy ever after ..
… MaaSaab eats the jalebi and gives one to Sattu… Isi beech Sattu phone beeps
back to back… 2-3 messages… Sabhi Suman ke… Sattu reads them- Chachu
please help me.. Sattu ghabra ke phone band kar deta hai… Maa Saab asks- kaun
hai… Sattu replies-Doodh ki delivery ho gayi hai uska message…! Tabhi MaaSaab
mood looks good Sattu topic chedta hai..MaaSaab don’t u think Suman is too
young for marriage.. abhi to 19 baras ki hai…! Maasaab ka gussa aasman par… …
Says- don’t give me gyaan…I know what I am doing…Tabhi bistar pe padi Daddo
speaks up- samjha kar launda kya keh raha hai ..wahi jo badki keh rahi thi ..
sattu gets embarrassed n says
daddo ..mera wo matlba nahi tha ..
daddo is on a tangent n keeps talking …
ari iski sehat chahye hai toh shaadi kar dey iski ..sehta key liyee shaadi zaroori
hai .. terey pitaji ney mujhsey .. satreh saal main shaadi kar li thi .. sehat dekhi thi
unki .. aath saandon ko ek baar main , kabu kar lewey the ..samjha kar kya keh
raha hai launda ..shaadi kar dey iski , sehat hi sehat !

sattu goes beetroot red ..daddo mera wo matlab nahi tha ..daddo keeps on
ranting …

a voice comes ..sharma kyun rahey hai devarji …

all turn n see babita at doro with a tea tray with cups of tea for all

she smiles deeply looking at sattu n says

kahey toh hum dhoond layee ladki .. chauk , sey …

sattu akward looks away ..babita starts to give tea to maasaab

daddo again starst off ..haan haan … pehle iski to shaadi kar de…phir us karamjali
ki karna… kab tak yeh tere pallu se bandha rahega…?

Babita smiles saying

Chauk ka mohalla toh aap achchey sey jaanety hai saatuji …

Maasaab …haan haan mayka hai waha tera …

Sattu tries to leave … babita blocks his path n putting fwd the tea tray ..

Babita continues .. koi apney jaisee dhoond layee …

Sattu .. nahi chahiyee …

Sattu says in a double meaning way as he refuses the tea …

Babita smiles ..
Sattu leaves … babita too ambles out …smiling to herself …
Maa saab reacts ..jis din kaheyga ..kar dungi uski shaadi .. kabhi kuch kahey toh ..
Daddo reacts and tells- I know u are scared ki iski wali bhi teeno dayano ki tarah
aa gayi to beta kahin haath se na nikal jaaye…

Maa Saab is thinking and looks extremely tensed…!

SCENE 2. INT/Day/Hospital
Kali/Dadi/Papa/Kusum/Maasi Maa

Maasi Maa is packing the bag, stuffing dads clothes n stuff into the bag … Tabhi
Kali enters and holds the hand of Maasi and stops her… Maa says… Jaa auto le
aa… wapis chal rahe hain… Kali says- we are not going anywhere… Papa Jee will
stay here till the time he is not well…! Mother snaps at her saying- Doctor ne
kaha hai gas ki pareshani hai… ghar jaake bhi nikal sakte…ajwain zeera
chaityengey…aur phuss !!!
…yahan pade pade kaun sa pet foolna band ho jayega …ek din aspaatal main
kamrey ka matlab 5 hazaar rupye…

dad intervens ..sahi keh rahi hai maa beta ..

Kali ignores dads plea and interrupts and assures Maasi paiso ka intezaam main
kar lungi…! Kali keeps back the clothes and things in the cupboard…Maasi Maa
gusse se Kali ka haath pakad ke rokne ki koshish karti hai and Maasi’s hand gets
scratched from Kali’s Bangle…Maa gusse se screams…Kali ignores and is
extremely tensed… Steps outside…Dadi follows her… Stops Kali and asks- What
happened to you…?? Kali looks at Dadi and says- kyun maa sey bahes kar rahi hai
beta …Aap to sab janti hain phir mujhse kyu pooch rahi hain…! Dadi tries to act
as if nothing happened… tries to cover up… Kali says- Meri wajah se Papa Jee ki
yeh halat hui hai… Dadi says aisa kuch nahi hai Kali… Kali holds the hand of Dadi
and keeps it on her head and says- meri kasam ki sab theek hai… Ya phir aap
mujhe sach batayengi…! Now Dadi cant speak lie…goes quiet …kali says I know
dad took loan for my wedding n cant chukao n ye halat ho gayi .. now tell me
..how much it is
Dadi looks surprised ..how she knows .. kali replies .. kaley bhoot ney nahi batya
humien .. khud apney kaan sey suna hai .. now tell me how much …dadi now tells
the truth ki Ramesh took 2 lakh rupees loan out of which 1 lakh got spent on
preparations and gifts… …! Kali sighs ..
Till dad gets well hell stay in hospital u take care of him… I will take care of the
loan… Dadi cluelessly asks lekin tu kya karegi?? Kali thinks- Says- where there is
a will there is a way .. ill find one

Sattu/Kusum/Kali

Sattu drops Kusum at college… She is low… Sattu tries to cheer her up saying
chal sham ko gunjing karate hai tujhey .. aur prakaash ki kulfi bhi uda lena …
Kusum disappointed… Says- Chachu aisa hi raha to ek do hafto mein shaadi ki
shopping karane le jaoge…Sattu samjaoes her ki u should not think negative…
Sattu takes out 100 rupee note from his wallet and gives it to Suman saying…
apne doston ke saath enjoy kar ill go n do my work , halwasiya market sey bahi
bahbhi ki saree uthani hai .. hazret ganj sey maa sab ka chain …aur ameenabad
sey majhli bhabhi ka kurta … Kusum says ..what fun ..college key bajayee ..ill
come with u .. he laughs n pushes her towards the college gate n leaves…
Sattu turns his bike around ..suddenly a scooter passes by and the flying dupatta
flies past his face ..he looks ahead n is surprised to see kali riding her scooter …
sattu smiles n kali keeps riding and sattu follows .. kali sees him in her rear view
mirror .. gets a lil alert .. kali turns a corner ..parks her scooter n gets into the
market area ..we see sattu is alos there .. picking up the saree ., as he collects the
saree …kali walks past looking for a shop .… Sattu whos also coming that way ,
buys a newspaper from a vendor n moves that way too …muttering bahbhi ki
saree dye ho gayi hogi ley letey hai ..idhar Kali aage badhti hai to gali mein
pandal sameta jaa raha hai… kisi ke shaadi hui hogi… chatt ki safai kar ke phool
koi neeche phekta hai… Phool Kali pe girte hain…its like a shower of flowers on
her ..kali smiles n jhaodes them from her hair ....…unme se ek phool utha kar
smells and keeps it in his pocket… Kali steps forth doosri gali mein jahan dupatte
rang ke sukhaye jaa rahe hain… Lal rang aur peele rang ke… Sattu and Kali
crosses each other parallel… beech mein sukhaye jaate dupatte…sattu collects
his babhis dupatta , kali asks for an addrees..smone points in a direction n kali
walks that way ..as shes coming down sm steps .. sm kids blowing bubbles from
the balcony of a house n the bubbles float down .. surrounding kali as she walks
ahead …kali smiling … sattu is alos coming that way and is mesmerized
watching ..some Bubbles fly off kalis face and comes on Sattu’s face and touches
his cheeks and bursts… Sattu touches his cheek and smiles…sees kali get into a
gali ..curious sattu too follows
Jewleery shops main kali is seen …selling bangles and chain…jeweler asking kali
betiyaa … kyun bech kar rahi ho .. kali tells baba ka karza hai ..hospital ki fee hai ..
dnt tell baba fazal miya ..man shakes his head in a no n pats kalis head ..sattu
watching .. Feels bad… wonders how can he help her…strains to hear wat shes
mumbling .. kali looks at the fifty thousand rupees n mutters .. pachaas hazaar ka
intezaam toh ho gaya ..baki bachey pachass .. wo kaha sey aayengey .. she looks
perplexed … then says .. ab toh dimagh parkassh ki kulfi kha kar hi chaleyga ..
sattu hears …smiles n says prakaash ki kulfi .. kali is walking off …sattu turns n n
breaks into a run

SCENE 4. INT/Day/Badi Bhabhi’s Room

Babita/Badi Bhabhi/majli bhabhi

Badi bhabhi sir pe patti bandhe baithi hain… looks extremely stressed… paas
mein majli khadi hai balm ki sheeshi pakde… badi says- oley padd gaye…pata
nahi kya hoga… ab to Kusum ki shaadi mein din nahi… Manjli sympathizes
saying- humne to madad karne ki koshish ki thi bhabhi…lekin Maa saab ke
saamne to kisi ki ek nahi chalti… laiye balm laga dein…! Manjli is still hopeful and
is trying hard to impress badi bhabhi…! Tabhi Babita enters wearing a new sari
with matching jewelry… says- aap logon ko harr jagah dhudh mara aur aap
yahan chipi baithi hain… Shows them a magazine… dekhiye ekdum Kareena ke
jaisi sari aur blouse mein to chaar chaand laga diye master ne… shows them
Kareena in a pic… similar sari and blouse… Both the bhabhi’s are reactionless…
Badi bhabhi mumbles- Yahan ole padd gaye aur ise sajne sawarne se fursat
nahi…! Babita says ..apney majhli bhabhi pey choor di baat toh hum kya kartey
chuppi saadh li .... ?… … Manjli is pressing badis forhead , stops and says ..
Choti …toh chalo choti ..hum toh rahey tan tan gopal .. kuch nahi kar payee ..toh
ab tum suljah do samasya badi bhabhi ki
Choti ties her blouse knot seductively n ask ..kyun baid bhabhi suljhayee samsya
… Badi bhabhi is getting distracted…hence holds her hands and removes them
and gets up listening to this…!
badi says ..what solution can u give to this samasya , maasaab ka firmaan nikla
gaya toh nikal gaya ... babita smiles ..farmaan ko taalna humko aata hai bhabhi ..
bhabhi asks ..matleb ..babita smiles n says .. na hoga baas na bajeygi basuri .. na
hogi bhuniya na aayega rishta .. both bahus ask what do u mean .. babita smiles
mysteriously n says .. I got a plan…!

Sc 5 .. Sc 5 a/ day / ..galis in ameenabda rooftop …prakaash kulfi

Sattu n kali

Sattu runs madly thru the galis ..crossing roads ..ducking the passing traffic
….running thru burkha clad hordes of women ..panting he reaches somewhere
…from his pov ..we sees the parkassh ki kulfi board ..

Straight cut to

A panting sattu sits on the rooftop .. panting .. looks around no sign of kali
..suddenly he spots her ..coming that way .. he qickly grabs a newspaper n covers
his face ..peepingf rom behind as kali stands looking for a space ..spots the seat
oppsomeone tries to occupy the seat, hoping shellcooem that way ..we do a full
build up as kali walks around looking for a palce to sit …n sattu watching quietly
her every movement .. kali is about to sit in another place ..sattu watches
…mumbles ..no no no no ..kali last min finds sm kulfi fallen on the seat n so she
stands up n moves towards sattus seat ..sattus hopes rise …a smile comes on his
face n he hides behind the paper …kalis perfume hits his nose n he takes a deep
breath opp sattu but he shoos away that person , ensuring seat remains vacant
..again hides his face ..looks nervous behind the news paper … finally kali comes
n takes the seat … sattu can hear the clink of her freshly purchased glass bangles
… kali calls out .. bhiayya ek kulfi .. saatu looks down from behind the newspaper
..a plate of kulfi is placed .. bangle laden hands dig into the kulfi .. spoon kept back
.. hands tap the table ..kali hums a song .. deep in thought .. sattu feeling each n
every nuance of her from behind the newspaper … Kali starts thinking wo kya
kareygi ..suddnely her eyes ..see something written on the newspaper sattu si
holding .. in her excitement ..she looks closely n holds the newspaper too , her
hands almost touching sattus …sattu draws in his breath …idhar kali bends
forward n reads wats written, her face lights up ..we don’t reveal wat shes read
…kali simply excited .. gasps ..mil gaya solution ..she snatches the paper from
Sattu’s hand… sattu scared he will be revealed ..but she in her excitement has
already tunred and without even looking at him leaves… Sattu soch mein pad
jaata hai ki aisa kya tha us paper mein… Sattu ki kulfi table par rakhi hui hai…
Sattu jaldbaazi se uthta hai and ,kulfi plate falls down and breaks… all looks at
him… Sattu ignores…says sorry to the waiter…keeps some extra money on the
table… … Buys the same news paper from him and looks at the last page… There
is a big ad…Jagrata Singer Required…! Sattu surpised .. mutters jagrata singer
…what will she do with this advt ..? gotta find out…looks down at the
advertisement n the address written on it .. somme lucknow address …333/ 22

SCENE 6. INT/ Day/ RAMVILAS VILLA (Phone cut)
Sattu/Kali/ Secretary Ramvilas Jee ka/Random People

Kali goes in to get the job… Sattu is standing in the end of the lane observing
Kali… Kali comes out within 5 minutes and looks extremely disappointed… Bahar
aate hi chappal toot jaati hai… Kali even the more annoyed… Lifts her broken
Chappal and moves paidal paidal… Sattu feels extremely bad for her… The
moment Kali exits the lane… Sattu enters the Ramvilas Villa and bahar hi ek table
par secretary baitha saare jagrata ke arrangements kar raha hai..kuch log bhi
ikhatte hain… Sattu asks him… Bhaisahab wo jo ladki aayi thi… use aapne kaam
nahi diya… Man replies… acchi singer hai lekin hum pehle hi Prakash Jee ko book
kar chuke hain…! Sattu a bit puzzled…asks Prakash jee Madhu Sudhan band ke
singer… Secretary kaam karte karte feels interrupted… makes an annoying face
and says- jee bhai sahab wahi…! Sattu looks thoughtful …mtters prakaash ji
sudhan band waley …

SCENE 7. INT/ Day/Hospital
Kali/PapaJee/Masi Maa/Dadi/Kusum

Kali looking upset enters the room …haath main kuch khana hai which shes got
from outside ..she looks a lil low but hides her worries n smiles..dadi asks kaha
reh gayi thi ..she sighs n says .. kuch nahi went to get this for dad its his fav na ,
she tells dadi to shut room .and .. .. room band kar ke Papa jee ko khana khilaney
lagti hai rahi hai… Dadi is giving pehra ki kahin nurse naa aa jaaye… Kali tells
Papa Jee…jaldi jaldi khaiye warna nurse mujhe aur dadi ko utha ke bahar phenk
degi… father is taking the last bite and asks Kali that- aisa kya hua hai munh kyun
utra hua hai tera …Kali says- kuch bhi to nahi Papa Jee… Idhar father is eating
food and udhar nurse is coming towards the room along with Maasi and Kusum
we build tension… the door opens… its nurse along with kusum and maasi maa…
lekin plate aur bartan gayab hain… Maasi Maa asks nurse ki inhe check kar ke
batao ki kab tak le jaa sakte hain… nurse looks puzzled… says- madame yeh to
doctor sahab ki bata sakte hain… shaam mein round pe ayenge… nurse leaves…
Maasi Maa says-Ye sab doctor Lootere hain, sahi ko bhi beemar bana ke paise
aithna hai inka kaam…5 hazaar…5 din to…Kusum calculates and replies- 25
hazaar…! Isi beech Kali comes out from the washroom… dabbe ko dho kar laayi
hai and tells Maasi Maa ki she has paid the money… father too a bit shocked…isi
beech Daadi asks Kali to leave and take some rest at home aur raat mein sab ke
liye khaana le aaye… Dadi wants to let Kali go… but Maasi smells something
fishy… and Kusum and Maasi scans Kali… Kali hugs her father and leaves… Tabhi
Kusum says something in Maasi’s ear… and Maasi is all aag baboola… tezi se
bahar jaati hai aur Kali ko awaaz dekar rokti hai…Maasi Kali ke paas jaake uske
haath ko dekhti hai aur duppata hata ke gale ko… na chain hai aur na kade…
Maasi blasts with anger and asks kahan hain chain aur bangle… Kali tells bech
diye… Maasi wahin hospital corridor mein sunana shuru kar deti hai… bojh kahin
ki…meri behen ke saath saath tub hi marr jaati…! Wat made u sell the bangles
..kali snaps ..they were mine bech diyee ..dadi comes out n tries to bachao kali n
now tells the truth .she did it to keep dad in hospital as he had angina attack due
to stress ..maa gets more infuriated ..… Says- what .. he took sucha big loan ..didnt
even tell me .. Manhoos Bojh… Baap ko bhi kha jaa ab… aur mujhe bhi… … Aise to
bojh hai hi aur waise bhi…pehle shaadi karane ka bojh lo aur phir karzo mein
doob ke maro…Asal baap ki beti hai to jaa kahin doob marr… Maasi ki awaaz zor
zor se hospital mein aa rahi hai… Dadi sunke bahar aati hain… Looks at Kali…Kali
breaks crying…without replying just leaves… Dadi follows her…!

SCENE 8/INT/Day/Temple
MaaSaab/Kali/Dadi…

Kali is passing by the crowd and tears are rushing out of her eyes… she looks
grief stricken… Dadi is following her and is calling her name…but she is in her
own zone… feeling totally left out and alone…! Dadi Maa can’t see Kali now… Kali
is out of her sight…

In a lonely corner Kali is sitting hiding her face behind her knees…crying
terribly…

SCENE CONTD.

Pooja and bhajans are on… Dadi is looking here and there everywhere to find
Kali… Jaise mele mein baccha kho jaata hai… She is asking everyone ki aapne
Meri Kali ko dekha… Tells Neela Suit aur Lal dupatta pehen rakha hai…Temple is
over crowded- Aarti Time… Dadi idhar udhar dhundh ke thakk jaati hai, lekin
Kali nahi milti… Dadi Sits in one corner and next to her Kali is sitting… Dadi
thanks Bhagwan… And goes close to her…aur uske Sir pe haath pyaar se pherti
hai… Kali turns around and looks at Dadi hugs her and cries… says-Sab meri hi
galti hai… I am the cursed one… neither I got my mother not my mil as my
mother… Dadi makes her get up and bhagwaan ke ssamne le jaakar puts tilak on
her forehead and blesses her and says –don’t loose heart my dear ..its always the
darkest before the break of dawn .. ur dawn will soon be on its way …
N in dramatic way ..we show a car stops outside mandir .. maasaabs feet step out
.. climb the mandir steps .. hands ring the bells as they move forward ....
Idhar dadi says ..so wat if ur mom is dead ..so wat if ur maasi cant be ur mom …ur
Saas will be ur Sangini…now we reavel Maa Sahab in the frame .. kali bends with
folded hands .. straightens up and we see kali n maa saab in the same frame .. kali
looks at the gods devotionally …her phone rings ..its the jagrata manager..he tells
kali .. madhusudan band guy cancelled the booking …can u come n sing the
jagrata ..kali is besides herself with joy n says ..yes ..yes I can .. thank you .. thank
you so much .. man nods n looks up n says ..aapka kaam ho gaya sahib , wev
cancelled kailash jagrata guy n taken on this new singer ..as u wished but why
wld u pay us double to do that .... n the camera pans n we see satya standing next
to the man .. he smiles n says … aap nahi samjhengey .. the girl needed the job
more than any one else..man nods n says behcrai bahut khush ho gayi .. meir baat
sun kar .. and satya hears this and smiles a relieved smiles …
