Summary of Guest Speaker Session(Monis Rahman)

Introduction of Rozee.pk:
The guest speaker session of today has been enlightening as the speaker briefly apprised
about Rozee.pk is a Pakistani employment website. He observed that in early 2000s job were
only advertised through offline mediums such as in newspaper especially in Dawn news
classified page. At that time, there was just 2.5 million internet users in Pakistan as he came
back from USA he had experienced online job portals in USA such as Monster.com. Moreover,
he was of the view that internet traffic will be going to increase so he start working on Rozee.pk.
Now the users has increased to 70 million users, this was the opportunity he was talking about to
capitalize on way back in 2007-2007. Rozee.pk was founded in 2007 by Monis Rahman, and is
owned and operated by Naseeb Networks, Inc. Rozee is primarily used to find job openings for
lower to, many other companies contacted Monis to post their companies/products ads to his
website, Rahman agreed to post their ads free of cost to help boost Naseeb's traffic.

He then offered the largest companies the ability to search for résumés, as well as
software to power their own company job boards and the right to post their logos on the front
page of his new site. Rozee.pk has been listed as number one employment website in Pakistan,
with more than 65-thousand companies posting jobs, and Rozee has a data base of more
than 9 million which is their competitive advantage. They generate revenue from advertising
and subscription.
 SimSim- a digital wallet:

Sir Monis also talk about SimSim is a digital wallet and facilitates a frictionless customer
on boarding experience allowing a wallet to be opened in under a minute simply using one’s
smartphone. The wallet is connected to most Pakistani banks allowing for quick loading and
transfer from and to any other bank account in the country. While discussing SimSim, he shared
the example of his servant, Jamshed, that how digital wallet has made their life easier as they,
now, do not have to give cash every time.

Importance of Internships:

Sir Monis also discussed that strong & concise resume is really important for getting a job.
A practical work background carries a major significance when attempting to enter the job
market. It's all about competition. An internship enables you to gain first-hand exposure of
working in the real world. It also allows students to harness the skill, knowledge, and
theoretical practice they learnt in university. One can acquire endless amounts of education in
one’s life, however, that knowledge doesn't always translate to the working life. The great thing
about internships is that it teaches young professionals about the specific industries and
companies they are interested in. Even the experience of trying something new is extremely
beneficial.
