A seasoned professional with more than 30 years of rich and diversified experience in
Mining business in Open Cast & Underground environment. Experienced in brown and
greenfield - mine construction & mine expansion projects, mine design, mine
operations, beneficiation, and smelting. Well versed in asset optimization, behaviour-
based safety management, and project management. I am a strong people manager –
can build great teams for committed performance deliveries and a sound taskmaster.
Professional Experience:
March’19 – Till date Director – Dariba SBU
Review utilization of resources and machinery within the location. Conduct discussions
and take decisions around re-allocation to optimize resource utilization.
Personally interact and build relationships with local government officials and key
community stakeholders. Conduct visits to local villages, interact with villagers to
understand their issues and identify ways in which HZL can support them.
Work with local government stakeholders to organize site visits and address any issues
related to labour, pollution, licenses etc.
Discuss, initiate and drive new initiatives to expand and upgrade mining and smelting
production. Participate in evaluation of equipment & suppliers, contractors etc.
Track industry development and identify new technologies, processes and equipment
to enhance safety, quality and volume of production.

Navigated the organization thru leveraging and aligning corporate communication, Govt
relations, Public affairs, stake holders' engagement, community relation.
Acquired New Mining Tenements, Water allocation for all facilities, ensured to have
benefits under state promotion schemes.
Successful MoU with Udaipur Smart City for STP establishment and leveraging this
sustainability effort to renew the water drawn agreement with Govt of Rajasthan.
Making eligible of Zinc Ferrite Project of HZL for investment benefits, which was denied
initially. Benefit generated: Rs 10 Cr
Consolidation of all pending Mineral Concession Applications and receipt of Order from
Revision Authority.
Jan 2015 – Nov 2016 Location Head (Rampura Agucha Mines) Hindustan Zinc (Vedanta Limited)
Successfully headed the Location comprising of underground and Open cast mines with
a combined capacity of 6.15 Million MT of Ore Production along with beneficiation plant
of 6.5 Million MT.
Transited open pit to underground mines & Ramped up
Effectively dealt with geo technical issues without hampering the production
Land acquisition and Bherukhera Village rehabilitation & resettlement
NGT case handled very well and averted the business threat.
Jan 2014-Jan 2015 Location Head (Rajpura Dariba Mining & Smelting Complex) Hindustan Zinc
(Vedanta Ltd)
Headed Location comprising underground Mines (Rajpura Dariba producing) 0.9 Million
ton/annum and Sindesar Khurd Two Million ton/annum, 210 KT MT Zinc Smelter, 100 KT
MT Lead Smelter and Power Plant (CPP 2*80 MW)
Led the location to collectively synchronize the smelters, mines and CPPs to effectively
utilize the resources & to maximize the metals production at minimum cost and optimum
inventory.
Maintain healthy relations between community, government agency and all stake
holders.
Achievements:
Building & Ramp up of Sindesar Khurd Mines to 2.0 MTPA capacity.
Ramp up and Stabilization of Rajpura Dariba Mines from 0.4 to 0.7 MTPA.
Stabilization of Lead Smelter.
Facilitated Smelter Project Execution.
April’08 - Jan’14 Unit Head Dariba Mines (with additional responsibilities for Location Administration,
IR, PR, CSR, Legal)
Heading RDM operations which includes an Underground Mine which is currently
producing 0.7 Million MT and a beneficiation Plant treating 1.0 million MT ore.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensuring the targeted MIC production.
Review of Commercial and procurement activities in line with production to optimize
COP.
Micro level planning to minimize potential risk to sustain the production with high level
of safety standards.
Achievements: Transforming through reviving Mine infrastructure and developing new
blocks. Mechanized development with drill Jumbo and LPDT.
Novl’07 - April’14
Repatriate back to HZL and completed the assignment of Technical audit of all HZL
Mines
May’05 - Nov’07 Chief Manager/ Unit Director – ZOD Open Cast Mine, AGRC Armenia
Working with the various multinationals and locals to effectively transform to a fully
operational mining unit. Conceptualised the mining project USD 35 Million and brought
to the ordering level. Handled the false prosecution boldly and presented our case to
bidders to get the best price of our assets.
Achievement :
Project Wisdom Instrumental in successful consummation of transaction.
Oct’96 - May’05 Operation Head/SBU head in Rampura Agucha Open Cast Mines (Hindustan Zinc
Limited of Vedanta Resources Plc ) -
Managed the operational, financial, commercial, HR aspects & provided leadership and
direction to a large team of operation & maintenance. Excavation per day was around
60000 MT with a fleet of 160 Ton /100 Ton class excavators & 78 MT / 95 MT dumpers,
165 mm drill.
Planned & executed highly mechanized method i.e. cut & fill, blast hole, vertical retreat
mining with hydraulic cemented back fill system.
April’87 – Sept’88 Rajpura Dariba Mine (U/G Mines) HZL

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Global Exposures:
Visited mining operations in Australia, Iran, Belarus, Poland, UK, China, Zambia for due diligence,
contract mining.
Other Key accomplishments:
Having outstanding track record throughout the career ( except last two ratings) &
recognition of BLG (Business Leadership Group), GLP (Global leadership
program) of the Company.
Planned & executed highly mechanized U/G method i.e. cut & fill, Sub Level Open
stoping, Long/Blast hole open stoping, vertical crater retreat mining, Continuous
Underhand Stoping with Paste fill/Hydraulic fill.
Played a Key role in having recognition of Rampura Agucha Open Cast Mines a
World-class operation. Benchmarked the operation parameters & aspiration level
set with the consultation of Australian Mining Consultant, Australia & Mckinsey.
Achieved lowest excavation cost among the comparable group of hard rock
mining.
Instrumental in bringing Cultural changes, Quality improvement by
Implementing TPM, Six sigma & acquiring ISO-9001-2000, ISO – 14001 & ISO –
18001. Prepared all Documentation of Quality & Apex Manual. Worked as “Green
Belt” in six sigma & Certified Auditor for ISO.
Took active part in revival of the RD Mines (U/G) after the disaster in 1994, normal
working and production started within one year.
Closely worked with Consultants i.e. BCG, PWC, EY, Mckinsey, DuPont, AMC
Australia to enhance the performance of the business.
