Reflection

Question#1
Throughout the semester I learned a lot about myself. Co-op really help me figure out on what
path to choose in the future. Doing ride alongs with the technicians really narrowed down my
interests. For example learning all about hvac really made me want to learn a lot more of the
cooling aspect since I didn't get to learn it due to the season during the semester.

Question#2
Co-op is an extremely great opportunity to learn about the work field. Some of my personal
experiences is that I never knew how crucial customer service really is. While I was with
technicians they always said that you must read the customers personality and have small talks
so the customer feels good about the service and possibly buy other services from the
company.

Question#3
The most essential skill that I personally improved was oral communication. In the beginning of
the semester I was really quit and barely spoke, but since I have been working with other people
it really helped we get out of my comfort zone and start having more conversations and got me
to ask more questions.

Question#4
An essential skill I need to improve on for post-secondary is time management. I really need to
improve on time management if I really want to hand in my essays/homework on time. Having
good time management can turn into a good habit which can help me in the future.

Question#5
Some of my plans for the immediate future is mainly to get a summer job to help finance me for
post-secondary. Having extra money for post secondary can really help if you need to buy
textbooks or even pay off student loans.

What I learned during Co-op has really altered my future plans. For example I thought
residential hvac would be a job for me, but when I was working I realized that I could do more
because I have more time on my hands. That was when the technician told me about industrial
hvac. I learned that industrial deals with larger and more complex

I believe I have most skills that would fulfill my future plans and goals. Some of the skills I have
are numeracy skills, working with others and thinking skills.With these skills I have developed
throughout Co-op I now know im prepared for my future plans and goals.
Question#8
The best pathways I found to become an hvac technician is: apprenticeship and college.
Apprenticeship is probably the best pathway for this job since you get paid while getting the
hands-on training. College is another option that helps you gain knowledge and understanding
of hvac.

Well I kept my managers and my supervisor contact information for when I need to contact them
for possible future employment.

Question#10
Well the main challenge I had was figuring out on which technician I had to roll with. My
supervisor usually tells me who I go with but sometimes he is late and there's no time to set me
up with a technician. Some strategies I came up with to solve the problem was: I asked my
manager to set me up or I asked the technicians myself.

Question#11
In order to deal with work challenges I need to gain the skills that will help me overcome
obstacles in the workplace. Depending on the work challenges, it is always best to ask someone
if you need help.
