2. Features of PAYMAYA
The PayMaya card is one of our many awesome features, so understanding
how it works is a must!

If you’re just starting out with the app or want your own physical PayMaya card,
you’re in the right place.

#1 There are two types of PayMaya cards: physical and virtual.

The virtual card is built into each user’s PayMaya app, and is generated based on your
account name and other registration details. It has everything you need to order
online: a card name, card number, expiration date, and CVV / CVC (card security
codes).

You can either get a virtual Visa or a virtual Mastercard.

On the other hand, the physical card is an external PayMaya card that you link to your
app. There are three kinds: the EMV chip card, the Beep card, and the payWave card
(tap and EMV chip). Of the three, only the EMV and payWave card are currently
available for purchase.

#2 Your PayMaya cards are prepaid cards, not credit cards.

Prepaid cards (like debit cards) basically access money that’s already in your
account: your PayMaya balance. Once your account balance runs out, they can’t be
used to purchase anything.

Keep an eye on your account balance within your app, especially if you use both the
virtual and physical card.

Both the physical and virtual PayMaya cards are debit cards.

#3 Each card has its own uses.

Your virtual card is designed to be used for online purchases and digital
subscriptions. You will need your card details (i.e. card name, 16-digit card number,
expiration date, and CVV/CVC) when you transact with various e-commerce sites.
Most of them will only allow purchases with cards that have all these details,
especially the card name.

When you don’t have cash, you have the option to use the physical PayMaya card at
restaurants, department stores, and other establishments that accept card payments.
The physical card can be used at point-of-sale terminals that have EMV chip readers,
as well as payWave terminals where you can just tap your card to make a transaction.
It all depends on the kind of card you’ve got.

#4 You have to activate your virtual PayMaya card for it to work.

work.

One of the first things you need to do after registering for a PayMaya account is
activate your virtual card. It’s a two-step process: load at least PHP 100 into your
PayMaya account, then tap View Card.

The first step is crucial: you can’t view your card at all with less than PHP 100 in your
PayMaya. Visit paymaya.com/addmoney-channels to learn where you can add money
to your account!

#5 You can buy a physical PayMaya card online or at selected physical stores.

You can buy a physical PayMaya card at the following places:

The SM Store Business Services

Robinsons Department Store Business Centers
LCC Supermarkets
Gaisano Capital Business Centers
Selected Family Mart branches
If you prefer to order one online, just visit store.payamaya.com. You can even buy
bundles of three or four cards at a discount, and orders of PHP 300 and above get
FREE shipping!
#6 You have to link a new physical PayMaya card to the app for it to work.

Linking a physical card to your app gives it access to your PayMaya account balance.

Just tap More (iOS) / Menu (Android), then My Cards and Link PayMaya Card to get
started.

#7 You can link up to three physical PayMaya cards to your app at one time.

If you want to load a fourth card, you’ll have to remove one of the existing three that
are already linked.

You can also do that on the My Cards tab from earlier. Tap the card you want to
remove, then Block Card.

#8 You use your physical PayMaya card to withdraw from any BancNet ATM.
When you link a PayMaya card, you have to set a unique 6-digit PIN for the purpose of
withdrawing from an ATM in the future.

If you’ve forgotten your PIN, you can always reset it any time you want. Just tap More
(iOS) / Menu (Android), tap My Cards, select the card you want to use, then tap Reset
PIN.

Be sure to read this handy guide before withdrawing from an ATM for the first time!

#9 You can block a lost PayMaya card.

This is a surefire way to keep anyone from spending your PayMaya balance through
the stolen card.

It’s as easy as tapping More (iOS) / Menu (Android) then My Cards, selecting the card
you want to block, then tapping Block Card.

Remember: Once you block a card, it can never be re-linked to your or any other
PayMaya app.

#10 All PayMaya cards have an expiration date.

Block an expired Physical card from your app, then re-link a new one. Snap your card
in half before disposing of it to make sure no one can try to use or re-sell it!
