I’m writing to relate the positive, professional, relationship that I have with Korina Kim as a result of her
tutoring my son, Desta. I have known Ms. Kim for many years personally.

Ms. Kim was recommended to me by Desta’s teacher, when I expressed concern about his need for
extra reading and math support. She was a student teacher, working in Desta’s classroom, in the fall
semester of 2019. She gave me the contact information for Ms. Kim, as she had felt she would be skilled
at providing extra help to Desta. Ms. Kim has provided excellent instruction and support to Desta, while
tutoring him 2 days per week. She was quick to make a connection with him on a one to one basis. Ms.
Kim spoke with him about his learning preferences, and she made an appropriate plan to instruct him.
He recently had a math test that he needed to prepare for. Ms. Kim spent time reviewing the study
guide with him. She also took the initiative to contact Desta’s teacher, to request that he be able to
bring his test home before correction, so that she could review the test with him. They worked together
to correct any errors, while she applied instruction and support. I have seen a rise in Desta’s confidence
with his schoolwork, that I believe has been a direct result of working with Ms. Kim.

Ms. Kim has been accommodating with our family’s schedule while tutoring Desta. She has been flexible
with her time, and she ensures that she is free to work with Desta 2 days per week after school.

I would highly recommend Korina Kim to work with students in a teaching capacity. She has
demonstrated efficiency, flexibility, and understanding that each student has specific needs during their
learning process.

It has been my pleasure to work with Ms. Kim, and I look forward to the progress that Desta will achieve
