RUBBER INDUSTRY :
Natural Rubber
Synthetic Rubber and
Reclaimed Rubber
Natural rubber is produced from the sap of rubber tree, which grows primarily in South East Asian
countries.
Synthetic rubber is artificial rubber, made from raw materials such as butadiene, styrene, isoprene,
chloroprene, isobutylene, acrylonitrile, ethylene and propylene. Synthetic rubber is mostly
produced in the industrialized countries - the United States, Japan, Western Europe and Eastern
Europe. Brazil is the only developing country with a significant synthetic rubber industry.
Reclaimed rubber is a made by the treatment of ground vulcanized scrap of rubber tyres, tubes and
miscellaneous waste rubber articles, through the applications of heat and chemical agents. This is
followed by intense mechanical working, which gives regenerated rubber almost original
plasticity. Natural rubber accounts for about 42% of the overall global production of rubber.
Global natural rubber production stood at 9.67million metric tonnes in 2016 and grew at a
CAGR of 7.68% during 2014 - 2016. Asia is the largest source of natural rubber, accounting for
around 94% of the total world output. The three largest rubber producing countries are Indonesia,
Malaysia and Thailand, which together account for around 72% of all natural rubber production.
Natural rubber has qualities that make it a preferred material in many engineering applications. Its
long fatigue life and high strength make it an ideal material for tyres, tubes, mountings and hoses.
Indian rubber industry has been growing in along with the strength and importance, as a
part of India's burgeoning role in the global economy. India is the world's largest producer and the
third largest consumer of natural rubber and is also one of the fastest growing economies globally.
With a stable annual growth rate of 8-9%, rising foreign exchange reserves, rapid expansion in the
capital markets and FDI inflow, India proudly stakes its claim as the second fastest growing major
economy in the world. Such factors combined with high concentration of automobile production
and the presence of large and medium industries in South India, Chennai has become the perfect
place for the event India Rubber Expo-2017.
Production of rubber in the world was considered to be very unstable during the last few years.
Comparatively, with the world India's production of rubber is consistent at the rate of 6% per

OPPORUNITIES
A SOWT analysis is a strategic planning tool to evaluate the strengths, weakness, opportunities
and threats involved in a project or in abusiness venture or in any other situation requiring on
decision.
STRENGTH
1. Market leader .
2. Has earned the distinction of not failing to deliver the milk on time throughout the
year . there are days with no powers supply , no water supply ; but there is no day
without mypol rubbersupply .
3. “MYPOL“ Is a trusted household brand name
4. Highly remunerative and timely payment to producers
5. Economic of scale – more volumes leading toeless cost on each unit sold, which is
difficult to match by any one is the market.
6. Union is in good finance position , even with least margin between procurement
price ( one among the highest in the country ) and sale price ( one among the highest
in the country ).
WEAKNESS
1. Lack flexibility in deciding about the operation . No authority over issues like pricing
offering volume discount etc.,
4. Organigational structure does not permit incentives/ reword for good performance
among DCS, Sales agent , material supplier and employees for quality performance ,
achieving volumes Etc.,
OPPORTUNITIES
1. Since the Mysore district is under Cauvery basis , perennial greens are available to the
cattls , the cattel management by the women farmers is highly organized , coupled with
existence of good number of cross bred animals with a reasonable lactate periods.
2. Mypol Has got eternal Bangalore market which can be extended very comfortably to 1.5
lakh market in about couple of seasons.
3. Because of logical location Mypol Has perennial supplies to other state.
4. At much better price than any other rubber price obtained in Karnataka .
5. Institutional markets , etc., are not fully tapped and these can captured preferably by
direct marketing .
THREATS
1. After liberalization , entry barriers in the rubber industry eased for new entrants .
2. Some private dairies are selling homogenized rubber, which appears rich . the union
cannot homogenize all its huge quantity of milk being sold due to lack of homogenizing
capacity and increase in processing cost .
3. Plans of major companies like reliance, ITC to enter in to rubber market in future .
Competitors Information :
Mypol faces firm competition for othertube manufacturing companies, Many of Companies
manufacture tube form natural rubber, which is less costly compared to the tube manufactured
from the buty 1 rubber which is an imported rubber and is very costly.
