ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to determine the Senior High School Preference of Grade 9
and 10 Junior High School Students in selected Schools in Sta. Cruz, Marinduque for the
basis of Strand offering and Career Guidance Program.
Using descriptive method of research, particularly the survey method, questionnaires
were designed to gather data and which was administered to the respondents from the
students of selected Schools in Sta. Cruz, Marinduque. The respondents of the study was
the selected Grade 9 and 10 Junior High School Students of selected Schools in Sta. Cruz,
Marinduque. The study find out that the respondents demographic profile shows that
majority of them are 14 years old, female and has a monthly family income of one
thousand to five thousand pesos, has a mother that is a housewife and a father that is a
Construction Worker and has a number of sibling of four to six. Then they have the same
ranking when it comes to grade level and school, the most preferred Senior High
Preference of Grade 9 and 10 Junior High School Students is the General Academic Strand
(GAS) and the least preferred are Tailoring, Care Giving, Housekeeping, Aquaculture,
Automotive Service, Electronic Repair, SMAW, Tile Setting, Plumbing, Refrigerating and
Air Conditioning, Carpentry and Sports Track.
This study implies that the Grade 9 and 10 Junior High School Students are still
undecided on what to take in college that is why they preferred to have General Academic
Strand(GAS) for their Senior High. It is recommended that the school should intensify
their Career Guidance Program that will enhance the skills and abilities of the students.
