 CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

1.0 Introduction

I had undergone my summer internship in Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre,
Vellore. A place where I really felt at home and came to know the environment in the
hospital and subjects I learn. Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre was located
near the golden temple Sripuram, Vellore. I was very privileged and blessed to
undergone my training in such reputed organization

I got confirmed of my internship training in SNHRC on May 13 and was asked to

continue on from May 15, 2019.Then I paid Rs.5000 for doing my summer internship
in SNHRC. Initially the daily schedule was began from 9.00am to 5.00pm, after two
days we requested our incharge to change the schedule according to our convenience
that began from 9.00am to 3.00pm.

Our incharge name was Dr. BEAM and he treated us in professional manner. He
guided us in all the way that we can get more benefit. He made a schedule according
to our needs and requirements with educational concerns.

SNHRC was founded in 2005, Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre is an
internationally renowned 301-bed hospital. For more than 10 years it has been
fulfilling the medical needs of our community. Sri Narayani Hospital is continually
improving the scope of services and skills available within the country. Its staff
comprised of Medical Council of India Board certified doctors provides a full
spectrum of treatment and preventative services. Its nurses and support staff are
committed to your well-being. Its services are designed to provide the most
comprehensive benefits to patients from all walks of life.

Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre is a tertiary care hospital co-located with the
golden temple and is managed by Sri Sakthi Amma Health Care Trust and provides
health care with empathy and compassion to all irrespective of their caste, creed,
religion or economic status.
No patient who visits the hospital is denied treatment because he or she cannot afford
it. The goodwill that the hospital has created amidst the community it serves is such,
that in a period of less than eight years, the hospital has earned a position of reckoning
amidst healthcare providers in Tamil Nadu.

The hospital has a very strong peripheral outreach programme. We conduct 20-25
camps a month where physicians and specialists visit the rural areas to examine and
treat patients at their doorstep. Patients who need further treatment are referred back
to the hospital and are offered subsidized healthcare. The hospital has in letter and
spirit followed AMMA's vision of providing service with empathy and compassion to
the needy population in and around Vellore. It has also gone on to provide tertiary
care to those in need at highly subsidized and affordable rates. The hospital has now
its reputation far and wide and we have a regular flow of patients from West Bengal,
North Eastern States and Bangladesh.

The new super specialty block with 100 beds and state of the art equipment and
theatre complex was inaugurated in the year 2016 thus adding on considerably to the
existing facilities. We also have dedicated Bio-Medical research wing, which
undertakes research on projects approved by ICMR and other nationally recognized
agencies and trains doctoral and postdoctoral research students in various disciplines.
In 2017 &2018 the New Cath Lab, Cardiothoracic CU and Biomedical Research
facilities were inaugurated.
 ABSTRACT

I carried out my internship in SNHRC
