Digital Classroom under TEQIP-III

NPIU-MHRD will be implementing Operation Digital Board under TEQIP-III to upgrade learning
teaching process through ICT in order to improve quality of education by addressing digital yearning
of new generation. It is aimed at making the learning-teaching process interactive and popularize
flipped or blended learning as an advanced pedagogical approach. In addition to availability of e-
resources at any time and at any place to students, it will also help in provisioning of personalised
adaptive learning as well as Intelligent Tutoring by exploiting emerging technologies like Machine
Learning, Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics. The scheme is targeted for setting up multiple Digital
classrooms (interactive teaching device/s with appropriate learning resources) in 100 institutions of
TEQIP II and TEQIP III to facilitate Digital Pedagogy.

Objective:

1. To empower faculties by upgrading their capacity (teaching abilities) for adapting Digital
Pedagogy
2. To establish an active learning environment through smart classes in institutions for the
students.
3. To enhance the employability of students while protecting the learners’ interest.

Implementation Mechanism:

1. The proposals shall be invited through online platform from eligible Institutions.
2. 100 institutes will be selected by NPIU-MHRD through a challenge method.
3. Equipment/devices for setting up digital classrooms will be procured centrally/decentralize
using the TEQIP-III funds under component 2.
4. Training of the faculty (on use of equipment and the digital pedagogy) of the selected
institutes will be provided by the IITs.
5. An expert committee will be established for shortlisting the resource material and suggesting
appropriate changes in curriculum.

Eligibility

1. Must have participated in TEQIP II and/ or TEQIP III.


2. Availability of high speed internet and Wi-Fi facility in the classroom complex.
3. At least 30% of eligible UG courses with valid accreditation or applied for.
4. Demonstrated that the faculties are highly motivated to improve teaching methods (Must
have an established student feedback mechanism).
5. Undertaking of the institute to express willingness to train the teachers and change the
pedagogy, to offer 20% credit courses through SWAYAM, utilization of the infrastructure
created out of the scheme.
6. Willingness of faculty to use the digital classroom for active learning/ flipped learning.
7. Desirable: Should have 100% academic freedom to modify the curriculum and examination
system by itself (autonomy- UGC/State declared or only constituent college).

Selection Process

The selection of institute shall be based on the scores awarded out of 100 on following criteria:
a. Percentage of eligible UG programs accredited or applied for (30% - 5 Marks, 5 marks for each
10 % and max. 20)
b. Bandwidth of Internet in each classroom (1 Mbps – 10 Marks, 5 marks for additional 0.5 Mbps
and max 20).
c. Autonomy status (State Autonomy – 5 marks, Only constituent College – 5 marks, UGC
autonomy - 10 marks)
d. Number of faculty taken certified courses for self on SWAYAM (1-5 Faculty – 5 marks, 6-10
Faculty – 10 marks, 11-15 Faculty – 15 marks, more than 15 Faculty - 20)
e. Number of credit courses allowed through SWAYAM / MOOCs as a part of curriculum. (1
Courses – 3 marks, 1 mark for additional 1 courses, max 10 marks)
f. Number of faculty expressed willingness through undertaking to adopt Flipped/Blended
learning methods. (5-9 Faculty – 5 marks, 10-14 Faculty – 10 marks, 15-20 Faculty – 15 marks,
more than 20 Faculty - 20)
Note: The institutions have to upload evidences at the places designated for above criteria as
mentioned below:

Expected Outcome
1. Increase in student participation/ attendance in classrooms due to effective use of digital
pedagogy tools like SWAYAM/ MOOCs platform and online learning resources.
2. Change in teacher centric education to learner centric education due to change in pedagogy
from passive/ conventional learning to active learning.
3. Improvement in Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour (KSB) of students.
4. Evolution of student assessment system from present traditional method to all levels of
Bloom’s Taxonomy.
