Statement of the Problem

Generally, this investigatory project aims to determine the relationship exist between the orange peel and

banana peel in making innovation in these existing floor wax. In other case, it will improve an existing product

to transform into new home-made floor wax. Lastly, it will help to minimize the waste of banana peels and orange

peels by innovating it into a new product and can be use in the near future.

Specifically, this project aims to provide answer to the following questions:

1. What are the differences occur between floor wax made from banana peel than made from orange peel

in terms of:

a) Texture

b) Color

c) Hardness

d) Odor

2. What are the strengths and weaknesses exist between floor wax made from banana peel than made

from orange peel?

3. Can this banana and orange be an alternative source in making floor wax?

4. Can this project possibly work or pursued in the future?

Hypothesis

Banana and orange peel can be an alternative source in making floor wax.

The researcher will provide the materials and equipment needed in preparing the project, then the

researcher will provide procedures that are required in performing the project, will present the product that are

formed after the procedures, lastly it is now ready for testing the product.

List of Materials and Equipment

 Knife  Kerosene

 Chopping board  Paraffin Wax

 Banana Peel  Metal Container

 Orange Peel  Tupperware

Procedures or Methodology

 Slice the fresh banana peel and orange peel in a chopping board.

 Boil the paraffin wax in fire until it gets melted.

 Pour kerosene in the metal container together with melted candle.

 Put the slice of fresh banana peel in metal container together with melted paraffin wax and kerosene at

low heat. Repeat this step with orange peel.

 Mix them every 5 minutes.

 After 15 minutes remove from heat and Get some towel or handkerchief.

 Put in extra bottle and start to put the mixed ingredients in handkerchief, strain and squeeze it.

 Wait until became firm, Put it in another container or Tupperware.

 Flatten the floor wax.

Results of the Experiments in the Form of Graph and Table

What are the differences occur between floor wax made from banana peel than made from orange

peel in terms of:

a. Texture

Sample Texture

Floor wax made from banana peel Slightly wet and the appearance looks like a
wax
Floor wax made from orange peel The surface is dry and looks like a formed
candle

b. Color

Sample Color

Floor wax made from banana peel The color of the outcome product is slightly
yellowish

Floor wax made from orange peel The color of the outcome product is yellowish

c. Hardness

Sample Hardness

Floor wax made from banana peel You can slightly press the product easily.

Floor wax made from orange peel You can’t press the product easily as well as
you need a force to do so.

d. Odor

Sample Odor

Floor wax made from banana peel You can still smell kerosene from the
outcome product its smell dominates the
banana smell.
Floor wax made from orange peel You can slightly smell kerosene from the
outcome product but the orange peel
dominates the kerosene smell.

Conclusion and Findings
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn:

 The researchers conclude that banana peel’s appearance is much wet and looks like a wax than orange

peel while orange peel’s appearance is look like a candle and dry, when it comes to color and hardness

both peels have slight similarities. But when it comes to odor, orange peel dominates banana peel.

 The researchers conclude that the sweet odor of orange peel floor wax is a great mixture with banana peel

to make a single product.

 The researchers conclude that strengths & weaknesses of banana peel quite difference compare to

strengths & weaknesses occur in orange peel.

 The researchers conclude that this research can possibly work or pursued in future.

Recommendation

The researchers humbly recommend the banana peel floor wax and orange peel floor wax to transform

into one product which is floor wax made up of banana peel with orange scent as well as to try all of you this

product it’s a lot cheaper than the commercial floor wax. This innovation can be eco-friendly in the sense that it

will lessen the waste of both banana and orange peels aside from that it will substitute the original floor wax that

commonly contain chemicals that can destroy our environment as well as our health.

Summary

In our society today, we faced challenges especially a great crisis when it comes to our economy.

Everything changes even the price of anything, so the researchers use these two existing products and combine

to form a single product that are efficient, less price and effective that can be use at home, school, office even

everywhere. The investigator’s main objective is to help our community as well as to individual to help improve

by using waste or abandoned things to come up an idea that can be use or pursue in the near future.
