This study discusses features of shale and sandstone using petrophysics tests. The
examinations demonstrate that samples from mudstone and sandstone possess distinct strain-
stress relationships where the rock veers towards elastic-plastic deformation. The research used
paleomagnetism and imaging logs to investigate the direction of stress. Assessment of the
features of the rock used the Gas Reservoir and State Key Laboratory of Oil comprising tests
ranging from shear, tensile, triaxial, and uniaxial compression tests. Thirdly, the rock properties
were determined using Log interpretation. Many natural fractures indicate shear and tensile
fractures. The two significant fractures experienced were shear and tensile. Lastly, the
application of different features of mudstone and sandstone together with static modulus and
dynamic formula yields shear compressive and tensile strengths.
