Band Project

1.There are four categories for the competition namely:


a. Preschool –age ranging from 3-6 years old.
b. Grade School Primary (Pupils from Gr.1-3)
c. Grade School Intermediate (Pupils from Gr.4-6)
d. High School (Grade 7-12)

2. Only bonafide students of any PSAP schools may join competition as certified by the school officials.
3. Participating schools are allowed to send one (1) entry per event.
4. Participation in any event will be determined upon the submission of Registration Form and payment
of the entry fee on or before the deadline set by the committee. On-site registration is discouraged.
No refund will be honored in case the participant/s will back out of the competition.
5. The school may prepare a substitute in case of change of contestant in case of an unexpected
Circumstances.
6. During the competition, each school should not wear any mark that will recognize the school
they represent. Participants should just wear white polo shirt and maong pants in case the event
will not ask them to wear costume.
7. Participants will be represented by the contest number to hide their identity and their school to avoid
biases and prejudices prior to the competition.
8. Participants who are not in the official list of the contestants will not be allowed to join in any contest.

9. Competitions that require costume should be decent and appropriate, tubeless, backless, spaghetti
Strap, very short shorts and skirt tight fitting clothes, sleeveless, sando and blouse showing belly button
and or shirt that contains inappropriate statement are strictly prohibited.
10. To determine the winners, all earned points of the participants will be added and the highest the total
will be ranked first, second and third respectively.
11. The Tally Committee will tally the scores, then to be counter signed by the Chairman of the PSAP
ALAM or noted by the PSAP President and then the Chairman of the Board of judges will declare
the winners.
12.Thedecision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.
13. The determine the Over-all Champion the following pointing scheme will be followed:

SOLO SINGING

1. The contest is open to all Preschool and primary pupils of any PSAP Schools.
2. There will be two categories:
a. Preschool
b. Primary
3. Contestants may choose from any of the local or foreign singers provided it is not
a romantic song depicting a man-woman relationship or promoting violence
which may not be appropriate for the pupils. It is suggested that songs may show
love for country and for others. Songs that are rock and contain lyrics that has
vulgar words or double-meaning statements are not allowed.
4. They may be accompanied by instrumental backing track (mp3) provided it has
no vocals or even back- up singers. Live accompaniment with one instrument (e.g.
keyboard or guitar) is allowed or the participant may choose to sing in acapella.
Two points will be deducted in case vocals will be heard from the music.
5. Instrumental backing track must be in mp3 format and must be saved in a usb to
be given to the sound booth prior to the competition. The usb must be properly
labelled with the name of the school and must contain only the music to be used.
6. One false start is allowed without penalty for preschool and primary. But a 2-point
deduction will be given on the next false start.
7. The performance should not exceed to five minutes.
8. Participants must be in a decent civilian attire.
9. There will be a holding area for all the participants. School ID for both participant
and coach must be presented to the chairman upon entering the holding area
for proper identification.
10. Draw lots will be done prior to the competition to determine the sequence of the
delivery.
11. Only the teacher/coach is allowed to enter the holding area. Parents and
audience may witness the performance in the contest venue.
12. Criteria for judging will be as follows:

COLORING AND FREE HAND DRAWING

1. The contest is open to all Preschool and primary pupils of any PSAP Schools.
2. There will be two categories:
c. Preschool (coloring)
d. Primary (free hand drawing)
3. There will be a design to be colored by the contestants for coloring competition
while for the free hand drawing, they will be given an Oslo paper as a drawing
medium.
4. Participants need to bring their own coloring materials and it is recommended to
bring CRAYOLA with 8-16 colors for coloring and 24 for the free hand drawing.
5. The subject to be drawn for the freehand drawing will be given on the day of
competition.
6. The coach and the contestant must present their ID upon entry to the venue.
7. The contest area will be for the contestant only. Coaches will be asked to leave
the contest venue before the countdown starts.
8. Contestants will be given one (1) hour to finish their artwork.
9. All entries will be displayed and there will be an open-judging by the judges.
10. Entries will already be a property of PSAP.
11. Criteria for judging will be as follows:

SPELLING
1. The contest is open to all Preschool and primary pupils of any PSAP Schools.
2. There will be two categories:
a Preschool

b. Primary
3. Each school shall provide a team composed of two pupils. Only one coach and one
companion per participant is allowed in the contest venue. Unnecessary noise and other
distractions created by any of the companions inside the venue which might affect the
focus and concentration of the participants will be a cause for them to be sent out of the
contest venue.
4. There will be an organization who will be giving the words for the competition. There will
three rounds for the preschool and four rounds for the Primary namely: Easy, Average,
Difficult and Clincher.
5. Each team should provide a white board with a size of a 1/8 illustration board, white board
marker and an eraser.
6. Each speller will be given time to write their answer with the limit of:
Easy 10 seconds
Average 15 seconds
Difficult 20 seconds

Exceeding on the given time would mean wrong on the item being spelled.
7. Signals wiil be given for the contestants like” Go” which means start writing the answer,”
Markers up” which means stop writing; and “Show me Boards up” which means show your
answer.
8. Each round has a corresponding point:
Easy 2 points
Average 3 points
Difficult 5 points
Clincher 10 points

9. Each round has also a corresponding number of items:


Easy 5 words
Average 7 words
Difficult 10 words
Clincher 3 words/school= 15 words

10. For Primary, the Clincher will be an oral spelling and the words will be picked by the Spelling
Master. Only those who belong to the Top 5 highest scores will be joining the round. The
participants may choose who among the two will spell orally.
11. In case of tie, a tie breaking word will be given to be spelled to determine the winner.
12. Each speller will be allowed to re-spell the word but only the second answer will be
honoured as the final answer. He/she will be given 15 seconds to spell the word assigned
to him /her.
13. All answers must be written in small print while the proper nouns must be spelled with a
capital letter. In the oral round, the speller must say “capital letter” to start the spelling of
a proper noun.
14. All participants in any round will be asked to face the Spelling Master as they spell the word
in written and in oral form.
15. The Spelling Master is the one in full control of the competition. He/she will repeat the word
to be spelled and he/she will also give signals to start writing, raise the board and putdown

the board. He/she will also determine if the answer is correct or not and his/her decision is
also final.
16. The team that has the most number of points will be declared as winner.

JAZZ CHANT

1. The contest is open to all Intermediate pupils of any PSAP Schools.


2. Each school must have 25- 30 members including instrumentalist.
3. There shall be one (1) contest piece. The title of the contest piece is “Peace Not
War” by Patricia Lithuanian

4. Each group shall be given 7-10 minutes to deliver the piece.


5. Costumes and props are allowed. The placement of props on the stage shall be
included in the limit. Sound effects may be used as long as the choir can provide
its own technical equipment and/or technical requirements are within the limits
of what the host can provide. The group can also provide instruments such as
drums, beat box, cymbals, xylophones, and the like.
6. For every increment of one (1) minute overtime, one (1) point shall be deducted
from the group’s over-all score.
7. There will be an official time keeper to watch over the duration of the
performance. He/she will raise flags with corresponding meanings:
a. Green – Start
b. Yellow – Nine minutes
c. Orange – Over time
2. The criteria for judging are as follows:

MADULANG SABAYANG PAGBIGKAS

1. Ang patimpalak ay bukas para sa mga mag aaral mula Mataas na Paaralan
sa alin mang paaralang kasapi ng PSAP.
2. Inaasahang ang bawat paaralan ay may 25 hanggang 35 kalahok.
3. Isang pyesa lamang ang gagamitin sa madulang sabayang pagbigkas.

4. Pinahihintulutan ang paglalapat ng himig, tunog, o awitin at ang


pagkakaroon ng koryograpi subalit ipinagbabawal ang paglalagay ng
karagdagang salita, linya o ekspresyon na hindi kasama sa orihinal na pyesa
ngunit ang ilang salita o linya mula sa pyesa ay maaaring ulitin.
5. Mahalaga sa madulang sabayang pagbigkas ang tinig, bigkas, pormasyon,
blaking, ekspresyon, imahinasyon, interpretasyon damdamin, tamang
pagbigkas at larawang-diwa.
6. Pito hanggang sampung minuto lamang ang oras ng pagtatanghal ng
madulang sabayang pagbigkas.
7. Bawat lalabis na minuto ay kabawasang isang (1) puntos na tatamuhin mula
sa hurado.
8. Magtatalaga ng isang opisyal upang bantayan ang oras. Siya ay magtataas
ng mga watawat na may kulay upang bigyan ng hudyat ang nagtatanghal:
Berde-Simula
Dilaw-Ika-9 na minuto
Dalandan-Sobra sa Oras
9. Tatangapin ang anumang kasuotang angkop sa pyesa ng Madulang
Sabayang Pagbigkas hanggat ito ay disente, katanggap-tanggap na
kasuotan sa paaralan at hindi mahalay. Ang paggamit ng “face at body
paint”ay ipinagbabawal.

STREET MODERN DANCE

1. The contest is open to all High School students of any PSAP School.
2. Each school can have a group of 6 to 12 members.
3. The theme of the dance should show #UNITY

4. The dance routine must have a total of four minutes. Excess of the time
would mean a deduction of one (1) point per minute.
5. Timing of the routine begins with the first audible sound and ends with the
last audible sound.
6. Groups may use a performance pace with a minimum of two (2) songs with
no maximum limit.
7. The team should wear clothing reflecting the character and the style of the
performance provided it is not tube, backless, spaghetti strap, very short
shorts and skirt, tight fitting clothes, sleeveless, sando and blouse showing
belly button, or shirt that contains statement that is against Catholic
standards. Any identifying mark of the school such as school logo, acronym
and the like would mean a deduction of 3 points.
8. Accessories may be used such as hats, caps, gloves and scarves.
9. Body oils, Face paint and glitters are not allowed.
10. No taps or bare feet are permitted.
11. Thumblings, liftings and tosses are not allowed.
12. Deduction of two (2) points will be given on the following conditions:
b. Clothing tossed into the audience
c. Music containing improper language and lyrics or double statements
d. Profane hand gesture or facial expression
e. Lewd gesture or movement
f. Falls, strips, or stumbles

2. Ang uri ng kwentong bubuuin ay ibibigay sa araw ng patimpalak ngunit ang


tema ay may kinalaman sa pagkakaisa.
3. Ang bawat paaralan ay maaring magpadala ng isang (1) kalahok.
4. Ang kwento ay dapat orihinal at nasa wikang Filipino.
5. Ang mga kalahok ay gagamit ng kompyuter na may Microsoft Word 2016 sa
pagsulat ng kwento.
6. Ang mga kasapi ay bibigyan ng dalawang oras para buuin ang kwento.
7. Sila ay papayagang gumawa ng kanilang balangkas gamit ang malinis na
papel mula na namamahala ng patimpalak.
8. Tanging ang mga kalahok lamang ang maaring pumasok sa lugar na
pagdarausan ng patimpalak.

1. The contest is open to all intermediate pupils of any PSAP schools.


2. Contestants should bring their own art materials such as ¼ illustration board,
coloring materials limited to oil pastel, pencil and eraser. Other coloring materials
such as pen, pentel pens, paint and water color are not allowed.
3. School ID for both participant and coach must be presented to the chaiman
upon entering the contest venue for proper identification. Coaches will be asked
to leave the contest venue once the countdown starts.
4. The theme of the poster will be announced on the day of the competition.
5. Each participant will be given 2 hours to finish his/her work.
6. Criteria for judging is as follows:

Relevance to the theme 30%

GROUP SINGING
1. The contest is open to all intermediate pupils and High School students of any
PSAP school.
2. There will be two categories
a. Intermediate
b. High School
3. Each can have at least six members up to 16 as the maximum.
4. Each group is required to sing one (1) song only and should be sung a Cappella
(without accompaniment).
5. Appropriate and decent costumes are required. Groups wearing school uniform
during the competition will not be allowed to perform.
6. Each group should perform one (1) folk song only with voices arranged according
to the group members:
a. Intermediate Category – SA/SSA/SSAA/SAT
b. High School Category – SATB/SA/SSAA/SSA/TB/TTBB
7. All participating groups has the sole responsibility to secure performance license
(or license to arrange, if applicable) from the copyright owner (composer,
arranger, or publisher) of their choice piece.
8. All participating groups must submit the following:
a. Three (3) original physical copies of music scores of the song;
b. Original and one (1) photocopy of the performance license;
c. All documents must be enclosed in a long brown envelope;
d. Envelope must be properly labelled with the group name, conductor’s
name, and school name;
e. All documents can be dropped off at Ville St. John Academy
f. All documents must be submitted on or before 15 February 2019; and
g. Music scores sent electronically as PDF or similar files will not be
accepted.
9. All submitted documents will be returned after the competition.
10. Performance order/sequence will be done through draw lots before the
competition.
11. Criteria for judging is as follows:

Musically (interpretation, artistic impression, style) 40%

Vocal Technique (intonation, harmony, blending, balance) 25%

FESTIVAL DANCE

1. The contest is open to all Intermediate pupils of any PSAP Schools.


2. Each school can have a minimum of 16 dancers and a maximum of 20 excluding
instrumentalist and props men which must wear black for proper identification. The
team has the option to include a Festival Queen which is included in the maximum
number of participants.
3. The group should perform any of the Philippine Festivals.
4. They may use canned music (in .mp3 format and should be placed in a usb and
properly labelled) or live instruments. Usb should only contain the music.
5. Performance should last from seven to ten minutes including entrance and exit. There
will be a deduction of one (1) point in excess of time allotment. Counting of time will
start on the first audible sound and will end on the same.
6. Dance steps, Costumes and Props must showcase the Festival they are portraying.
7. Each school must provide introduction with three to five sentences that gives
background to the dance which will be read by any of the representative from the
school before the performance.
8. There will be an official time keeper to watch over the duration of the performance.
He/she will raise flags with corresponding meanings:

READ – ATHON

(Reading & Retelling of the Stories)

1. The contest is open to all primary pupils of any PSAP schools.


2. Each school can send a team composed of 2 pupils. One is assigned to read
(Reader) a story and the other one will re tell (Reteller) the story.
3. Participant for reading will be given materials/ or a story to read on the spot.
4. There will be a pre-reading time of five minutes for the Reader.
5. The second participant which is the Reteller will be given five minutes to prepare
and afterwards will be retelling the story.
6. The team reader and re-teller of the story will be judged as one

LITERARY COSPLAY

1. The contest is open to all High School students of any PSAP schools.
2. Each school can send one participant.
3. Each participant will portray a BOOK Character of his/her choice through
costume, make up and/or props provided the participant will be the only one to
manipulate it. The chosen character must show positive attitude which can be a
role model to the young.
4. Lines to be delivered must be in English.
5. He/she may prepare a short act for three (3) minutes including entrance and
exit.
6. Background music may be used during the performance.
7. A deduction of one (1) point for every one (1) minute will be given in excess of
the time allotment.
8. Criteria for judging as is follows:

4. Ang Editoryal ay dapat sulat kamay at nasa wikang Filipino.
5. Ang bawat kalahok ay gagamit ng Mongol No.2 sa pagsulat at bibigyan ng
blakong papel na kanilang susulatan.
6. Sila ay bibigyan ng isang oras at kalahati para isulat ang Editoryal na dapat
maglaman ng higit kumulang 500 salita.

EDITORIAL WRITING

1. The competition is open to all High School students of any PSAP Schools.
2. Each school may send one (1) participant.
3. The topic of the Editorial will be given on the day of the competition.
4. The Editorial will be computerized using Microsoft Word 2016.
5. The participant has the option to make a draft of their editorial article and bond
paper will be given to them for this purpose.
6. They will be given one hour and a half to write and the article should contain at
least 500 words.
7. Criteria for judging is as follows:

Text structure 30%

Persuasive devices 30%

Unity of Idea 25%

Grammar and mechanics 15%

ON-THE-SPOT PORTRAIT MAKING CONTEST

1. The contest is open to all High School students of any PSAP Schools.
2. Only one (1) participant per school is allowed.
3. The contestant must bring and use blank soft charcoal pencils or medium
drawing pencil.
4. Each contestant will be given 1/8 size canson paper attached to a ¼ illustration
board.
5. The paper to be used will be provided by the organizer while the illustration
board will be from the participant.
6. The subject of the contest will be given on the day of the competition.
7. They will be given four (4) hours to finish their art work.
8. Only the participants are allowed inside the venue.
9. No boarder line in the master’s illustration board is allowed.
10. Criteria for judging is as follows:

Similarity(likeliness) 30%

Proportion(Scale) 20%

Tone building(value) 20%

Workmanship(value) 20%

Over-all impact 10%

PRESENTATION OF INVESTIGATORY PROJECT

1. The contestant is open to all High School students of any PSAP Schools.
2. Each school may send an entry that made by a group compose of three to five
members.
3. The Investigatory Project may be an instrumentation, comparative study,
observation of a certain phenomenon or invention of a new product.
4. The research may be quantitative or qualitative.
5. The research paper should consist of:

b. Submitted in three (3) copies hard bounded;


c. All documents must be enclosed in a long brown envelope;
d. Envelope must be properly labelled with the group name, and school
name;
e. All documents can be dropped off at Ville St. John Academy
f. All documents must be submitted on or before 15 February 2019; and
g. Documents sent electronically as PDF or similar files will not be accepted.
7. All submitted documents will be returned after the competition.
8. Each school will be given ten minutes to present their work in front of a panel.
9. During the oral defense, presenters may use slide presentation.
10. The team will be asked to bring their product as an evidence of the research
output.
11. Criteria for judging is as follows:

READERS THEATER

1. The contest is open to all High School students of any PSAP Schools.
2. Each school can have a group compose of 10 to 20 members.
3. There will only be one contest piece.
4. Presentation and delivery should be at least (7) minutes but should not exceed
ten (10) minutes including entrance and exit. One point will be deducted for
each minute in excess of the allotted time limit.
5. An official timekeeper will see to it that the time set for the delivery of each
group is followed.
6. Effects, adlib and musical background is allowed.
7. Make-up, accessories and costumes are encouraged while face and body paint
is not allowed.
8. There will be an official time keeper to watch over the duration of the
performance. He/she will raise flags with corresponding meaning:
a. Green – Start
b. Yellow – Nine minutes
c. Orange – Over time
9. Criteria for judging is as follows:

ESSAY WRITING

1. The competition is open to all Intermediate pupils of any PSAP Schools.


2. Each school may send one (1) participant.
3. The topic of the essay will be given on the day of the competition.
4. The essay must be computerized using the Microsoft Word 2016.
5. Participants will be given one and a half hour to make the essay.
6. The participant has the option to make a draft of their essay and bond paper will
be given to them for this purpose.
7. They will be given one hour to write and the essay should contain 150 to 200
words.
8. Criteria for judging is as follows:

EXTEMPORANEOUS SPEECH

1. The competition is open to all High School students of any PSAP Schools.
2. Each school may send one (1) participant.
3. The topic of the speech to be delivered will be given on the day of the
competition.
4. Each participant will be given three (3) minutes to organize his/her thoughts and
three (3) minutes to deliver. The three-minute thinking and organizing time will
start once the former starts delivering his/her speech inside the contest venue.
5. There will be a holding area for the contestants and no one is allowed to
approach any of them once the competition starts.
6. The facilitator will give the topic before the contestant delivers his/her topic.
7. There will be an official time keeper to monitor the time as the participants
delivers his/her speech.
8. A bell will signal the start and end of the three-minute time. A warning bell will be
given on the second minute so that the contestant can wrap up his/her speech.
9. Criteria for judging

POEM RECITATION
1. The contest is open to all Pre-school pupils of any PSAP schools.
2. There will be one contest piece to perform.
3. They may wear their costume but NOT ALLOWED to use any props.
4. There will be a holding area for all the participants. School ID for both participant
and coach must be presented to the chairman upon entering the holding area
for proper identification.
5. Participants who are not in the official list of contestants will not be allowed to
enter the holding area.
6. Draw lots will be done prior to the competition to determine the sequence of
delivery.
7. Only the teacher/coach is allowed to enter the holding area. Parents and
audience may witness the performance in the contest venue.
8. Criteria for judging is as follows:

Delivery and Interpretation 30%

Voice Quality and Projection 20%

Diction and Pronunciation 25%

Mastery of Piece 15%

Stage Presence 10%

9. Name of participant and his/her school will be revealed to the judges after they
have chosen the winners.

Acoustic Band Competition

1. The contest is open to all High School students, Grades 7 to 12.


2. One (1) band/group is allowed to join per school.
3. Each band/group should consist of no less than four (4) members and no more than
six (6) members.
4. Maximum of two (2) lead vocalists per band/group is allowed.
5. Major musical instruments should include any or all of the following: acoustic guitar,
bass guitar, keyboards and cajon (beatbox).
6. Each group/band is allowed to use other musical instruments (aside from the
mention above) provided that the instruments do not require the use of the
electricity. (e.g. flute, violin, shakers, etc.)
7. Each band/group shall sing one (1) Original Pinoy Music (OPM).
8. Performance should be three (3) to five (5) minutes long.
9. The song must be memorized.
10. Song containing profane and vulgar words are not allowed.
11. Performers are expected to wear decent attire during the performance.
12. The decision of the judges is final. The group with the highest score shall be declared
winners.
