Action Research is a process of


systematic inquiry to improve
educational practices or resolve
problems in classrooms and
schools.

CONTINUING THE ACTION


This session explores in more
detail the emergent nature of
action research. It considers why
and how processes in action
research might change as
investigations of practice unfold.
We will also consider the role
played by reflection in action
research and how it contributes
to sustaining action research and
to initiating and deepening data
synthesis and analysis. In
relation to analysis, the session
addresses what is meant by
validity and reliability as applied
in action research, and considers
how robustness in action
research can be strengthened.
Participants will have an
opportunity to discuss any action
research they have initiated so far
and to consider directions for
further investigations.
