Grate firing system (ROFEA)

Description of ROFEA test facility

Configuration

Configuration of the grate firing system ROFEA

The grate firing system

The grate firing system consists of a horizontal moving
grate for wood chips and other solid biomass. The
maximum thermal power output is 240 kW. The fuel
feeding from the fuel storage is managed by two stokers.
The primary air is splitted in two different zones to
improve the combustion.

Measurements in the grate firing

system

The secondary air is splitted in three controlled stages. With this multiple air staged injection it is
possible to reduce the NOx emissions considerably.

With 16 ports for portable suction probes the temperature and the gas composition can be
determined everywhere in the combustion zone. The exhaust gas composition can be measured
synchronously.
