Instructor Prof. Krishnarao Dhuri

Course Title Dynamics of Machine

Topic Static force Analysis

Sub Topics 1. Conditions for Static equilibrium

2. Analysis of the system under forces and moments
3. Virtual work method for static force analysis

Objectives To familiarize students for static force analysis, one of the basic topic of Machine design

Pre-reading Relation between motion and forces causing is a fascinating subject. This study is a generally
assigned to referred as dynamic. Modern Engineering aims at analyzing and predicting dynamics behavior
the class of physical systems. Theory of Mechanisms & Machines is used to understand the relationships between
the geometry and motions of the parts of a machine or mechanism and forces which produce
before topic
motion.

Formative 1. Quick quiz for drawing the Free-body-diagram (FBDs) for several systems (Targeting one of
assessment difficult part from the unit).
2. Giving problem in the class to solve and randomly picking anyone to solve it on board; if s/he is
not able to do it then ask other people to come forward – this test their learning as well this will
improve their attention in class.
3. Starting the class with Recap and feedback about the topic understanding - need more attention
etc. (We can use here fist of 5). Closing the topic with summarization.
4. Surprise quiz
5. Home work problems
