Mike Jeffersons Learning Contract 2019 CRW
Description of Duties:
The Higher Education Student Affairs (HESA) graduate internship with Campus
Recreation and Wellness (CRW) is broken up between educational outreach, program
development and operations of CRW. The intern will be responsible with educational
programming that includes in house, outreach and digital means, along with opportunities
to lead program development, marketing, delivery and evaluations conducted by the
CRW.
Learning Outcomes:
Throughout this internship, intern will be able to:
1) Design programming to more effectively connect residential students and CRW
5) Describe, in, detail, all functions of the CRW through exposure to various day
to day operations
Plan your work schedule carefully. Do not commit to work more hours than you can
balance with your course work and other obligations.
You are responsible for keeping a log of your hours. Keep your supervisor updated
periodically so that she can ensure that you successfully complete the required hours.
You must give 24 hours notice if you will miss work or need to reduce the number of
hours you are scheduled to work. You should send an email to Mandy Dockendorf
and/or call her to confirm with someone in the office that you will be out.
If an emergency arises and you are unable to give us 24 hours notice you should call
or text Mandy Dockendorf but if she cannot be reached or you don’t hear a response
call Brandon MacCallum with CRW at 828-227-8802 during business hours.
Professional Expectations
You are responsible for completion of all forms and other paperwork regarding your
position.
Personal use of the Campus Rec Center (CRC) computers, media equipment, tools,
other equipment, as well as office and art supplies, is not allowed.
In return, we will treat you professionally. We will provide you with appropriate instruction
for your assignments and will answer your questions. We will strive to give you assignments
that reflect your interests and career goals, though we will also assign tasks to meet CRW’s
needs. We will alert you to professional opportunities in the region. We will give you
feedback on your work including what you have done well and how you may improve. We
will also warn you if your work or behavior is unacceptable.
If you would like, we will provide you with an evaluation of your work. In return we ask that
you share copies of any reports that you complete as part of your work at CRW.
