internally or externally calibrated according to National and International standards and/or ASME requirements as
appropriate.

3. REFERENCE
3.1. ISO 9001:2015
3.2. AWS D1.1 – Steel Structural Welding Code
3.3. EN 1090 - Technical Requirements of the execution of the steel structure
3.4. ASME – ASME Boilers and Pressure Vessel Codes
3.5. API – American Petroleum Institute
3.6. ASF-QC-CAL-001 – this procedure

4. DEFINITION
QCM: Quality Control Manager
RCS: Recognized Calibration Society/Institute
QC: Quality control Engineer which is the responsible person to carry out the calibration activity
NS: National/International Standard
RT: Radiographic testing
MT: Magnetic Testing

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
QC engineer is the responsible person to carry out the calibration activity including witnessing the testing, carrying out
the testing or preparing the reports to record all the data assuring that the equipment running in a proper way.

6. PROCEDURE
6.1. REFERENCE TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
6.1.1. Reference equipment/tools that will be used for internal calibration and other equipment/tools that shall be
calibrated externally in an RCS against relevant national or international standards are listed in table 1
6.1.2. In case of conflict between the tolerances specified in table 1, and the standards used by the RCS, the most
restricted one shall prevail.
6.1.3. Reference equipment/tools calibration intervals shall follow the frequencies specified in table 1, and should be
performed in case of damage or deterioration raised against the required accuracy level.
6.1.4. Calibration certificate of reference equipment/tools shall be issued by the RCS and shall be maintained and
approved by the QCM this certificate shall at least specifies the following details:
- The calibration dates
- The serial no. of the equipment/tool under calibration
- A complete description of the calibration equipment/tool used for calibration (including related
description, serial no., manufacturer, and calibration due date).
- Reference calibration standard
- Calibration readings
- The recorded accuracy of equipment/tool under calibration.
6.1.5. Calibrated Reference equipment/tools shall only be used for internal calibration purposes (not as daily working
tools) and shall be kept by the QCM in suitable containers to protect them from being damaged.

002
6.1.7. All devices shall be calibrated over the full range of use
6.1.8. At least all the devices mentioned in the Spanish regulation issued by ministry of industry, energy and tourism
regarding calibration of devices shall be calibrated or verified as per table 2

6.2. INTERNALLY CALIBRATED EQUIPMENT/TOOLS

6.2.1. The working measuring equipment/tools should be internally calibrated according to table 3, of this procedure,
using the calibrated reference equipment/tools as described in 6.1.5 above.
6.2.2. The working measuring equipment/tools calibration intervals shall follow the frequencies specified in table no.
3 and should be performed in case of damage or deterioration raised against the required accuracy level.
6.2.3. Internal Equipment Calibration Certificate from no. ASF-QC-CAL-003 shall be issued by Quality Control Engineer
and approved by the QCM for the internally calibrated equipment/tools, this certificate shall at least specify
the following details:
- The calibration dates
- The serial no. of the equipment/tool under calibration
- A complete description of the calibration equipment/tool used for calibration (including serial no.,
manufacturer, and accuracy)
- Reference to this Calibration procedure
- Calibration readings
- The recorded accuracy of equipment/tool under calibration.
6.2.4. Internally calibrated equipment/tools shall be listed in the Equipment Calibration List form no. ASF-QC-CAL-002
6.2.5. A calibration label form no. ASF-QC-CAL-004 shall be completed and tagged to the internally calibrated
tool/equipment.

6.3. INTERNAL CALIBRATION PROCEDURE

6.3.1. Internal calibrations shall be performed by the Quality Control Manager or his designee.
6.3.2. Calibration frequencies shall follow the details specified in table 3
6.3.3. Internal calibration shall be performed in a controlled area where requested temperature can be controlled.
6.3.4. The details specified in 6.2 above shall be recorded in the internal calibration report.
6.3.5. The intended calibration range shall be recorded in the internal calibration report before the start of
calibration.
6.3.6. Both readings (Measured and reference) shall be measured carefully and recorded in the internal calibration
certificate.
6.3.7. The deviation shall be calculated and specified in the calibration certificate.
6.3.8. Equipment/Tools that show an acceptable deviation shall be released for usage
6.3.9. Equipment/Tools that show non acceptable deviation shall be kept in a controlled area with tags (HOLD) and
sent for maintenance or discarded.

6.4. DENSITOMETER CALIBRATION PROCEDURE

6.4.1. Calibration of radiographic Densitometer shall be performed by RT Level III or Level II examiner at least every
90 days during use.
6.4.2. Calibration of radiographic Densitometer shall be performed by using a step tablet or a step wedge calibration
film, traceable to a national standard step tablet and having at least 5 steps with neutral densities from at least
1.0 through 4.0
