“Magnifying the Deeper Meanings of Art”
Art’s meaning is painted on a large canvas made by different types of painting
techniques, different ways of stroking the paint brush, and different shades of spectrum
of colors. It means that art can be perceived in many ways. Each person has his or her
own meaning of the word. Others do not even consider it solely as a word but a lifestyle,
a career, a place where someone belongs to or multitude of emotions expressed
through careful passionate delivery of the field. Art for me does not just simply defined
by a simple meaning but rather it gives meaning.
Art should not be defined by its appearance rather what lies beneath it. It is not a
one dimensional object that a person can give meaning with a glance. It should be
carefully examined, understood, and appreciated. Examining art is by wholeheartedly
accepting the depth of the message it conveys. Making sure that every detail defines
the whole picture. Making sure that the only image comes to mind is the scenery it
wants you to play out. Just like reading a book while thinking of every scene that the
author artistically written. Diving into that scene in your mind makes you understand the
deeper meaning of the artwork. Like getting lost in the middle of the forest due to do
thick dark foliage that you cannot understand but as you try to seek for an answer, a
path leading you to a brighter environment forms in front of your eyes that sparkles as it
gives you a definite answer. As you walk out of the confusion and entered a state of
understanding, you will start to appreciate what is in front of you. Art is a map that
indulges adventure but also gives different people different trails as art gives variety of
contrasting meaning to each individual.
People may misunderstood art as an entertainment source only or a visually
stunning object that pleases the eye. Art is more than an apple to the eye. It has deeper
meaning than what the eye can see. Art is a three-word letter but it is not the letter that
defines it but the message it wants to bridge out to everyone. Some artworks are
shallow no matter if they look good. It should have more than a visual appeal to be
considered as an art. The quality of the paintbrush or paint used on a painting, the
grammar or creative structure that makes up a song, or the intense choreography of a
dance piece is not the crown that makes up a queen. It is the message that lies
between the dried paints, the inspiration of a lyric, and the movements that tell a story in
a dance. These little details give meaning to an artwork. Appreciation of an art piece
touches not on the sense of sight or hearing but touches each fiber of one’s soul.
A good artwork is defined by how good an artist in appealing to the senses. A
great artwork is defined by how in-depth the message it conveys. Art can only give
meaning to a great artwork. So no matter how dreadful the artwork may look like as long
as it is more than what it offers to the sight then it is the definition of an art.
