Pichi Pichi

Rationale

Pichi Pichi is considered as one of many kakanin of the Filipino people. Pichi pichi
originated from the province of Quezon but it is also extremely famous in Surigao.

Pichi Pichi is prepared in a bowl, mix well the following ingredient : grated cassava, sugar,
water ,pandan essence and lye water. Then put on a molder before you steam it .Then after
steaming, remove the Pichi Pichi from the molder if it cools down and can optionally overlay
with coconut.

A. Description

Pichi Pichi is a sticky-gelatinous sweet dessert and can be also eaten as an afternoon snack.
It is made from coconut, cassava or kamoteng kahoy and sugar . It is usually have variation of
colors though it still remained it sweet and delicious taste. It is usually coated with grated
coconut or top with cheese.

The ingredients are cassava grated, sugar, water, coconut grated, lye water, and buko-
pandan essence (Merano, 2019).

Twenty-four pieces of Pichi Pichi have a calories count of 119 kcal , it also have 20 g of
carbohydrates, 1 g. of protein, 5 g. of fat, 4 g. of saturated fat, 93 mg. of Sodium. It contains 147
mg. of potassium, 2 g. of fiber, 19 g. of sugar, 1 mg. of vitamin C, 11 mg. of calcium, 1 mg. of
iron (Manalo, 2019).

B. Cost of Product

The cost of making the product is in total ₱705.00

 8 tsp lye water - ₱25.00
 8 tsp buko-pandan essence - ₱50.00

For a pack of pichi pichi (4 pieces per pack) is sold for 20 pesos. Everyday there will be about 5
kilogram of pichi pichi prepared, which is approximately equal to 80 pieces. Hence, the daily
income will be 160 pesos.

C. Budget of Advertisng

The advertising cost will be 500 pesos.

The method or design of advertising chosen is the distribution of flyers. 140 pieces of 8.5
in. by 11 in. flyers will be made.

D. Application of Variation

a. Data Gathering

The data was gathered by conducting an interview with a pichi pichi vendor.

b. Equation of Variations

The sellers found out that the number of pichi pichi sold, S, varies directly with their
advertising budget, B and inversely proportion with the price of each pichi pichi, P. When
₱500.00 was spent on advertising and the price of the pichi pichi is ₱5.00, then 80 pieces are
sold. What is the number of pichi pichi, sold if the amount of advertising budget is decreased to
₱300.00?

Conclusion and Recommendations

The researchers conclude that Pichi-Pichi is an easy to prepare and popular among the
common folk. Apart from this, it is a nutritious snack/dessert and it is also can be served also in
a potluck party contribution .

The researchers recommend Pichi Pichi as a feasible product for interested sellers and
vendors.
