Session Title: CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT (ESTABLISHING CLASSROOM ROUTINES)

Duration: Day 1: 1 hour


Target Participants and Profile 71 Elementary School Teachers and 6 School Heads
OBJECTIVES
Terminal Objective: A. Gain deeper understanding on how classroom routines are established for a more focused, on-tasked and
productive learners

Enabling Objectives: a. Define classroom routines


b. Identify the different examples of classroom routines and how it is applied/established in the classroom
c. Describe how classroom routines are established in the classroom
d. Adopt various techniques and strategies in establishing routines in the classroom
Key Content In Learning to Teach…not just for beginners by Linda Shalaway, routines are the backbone of daily classroom
life. They facilitate teaching and learning.
 Routines don’t just make the teacher’s life easier, they also save valuable classroom time and what is most
important, efficient routine makes it easier for students to learn and achieve more.
In the classroom, there are many essential activities that require routines.
When routines and procedures are carefully taught, modeled, and established in the classroom, children know
what’s expected of them and how to do certain things on their own. Having these predictable patterns in place
allows teachers to spend more time in meaningful instruction.
