Budget Proposal For Covered Court

Budget Proposal For Covered Court
II. OBJECTIVES:
IV. BACKGROUND/RATIONALE
Buenavista National High School, one of the leading secondary schools in the Division of
Escalante City existed since 1967. Today, it has a population of 941 students and 40 teaching and
non-teaching staff. The school has won awards in both academic and non-academic contests.
However, it has no facility to hold big events such as sports, general assemblies and other academic
and social functions .
Although years back, a sub-standard building called the Big Room was built, but the edifice
is now dilapidated. Its roofs are rotten and pose hazards to anyone who will enter. Besides, it can
no longer cater the growing school population during important occasions.
Needless to say, Buenavista National High School is in need of a Multi-Purpose Activity
Center or Covered Court to serve not only its students and teachers, but also the community. This
place will provide students a venue to gather and perform various school and extra-curricular
activities with protection from the heat of the sun and heavy rains. This can also serve as evacuation
center for residents during unexpected calamities.
In addition, students these days are too bogged down with the stresses of everyday life. Going to the Covered
Court breaks up a trying day and teaches students that a little physical activity can be a great way to let go and de-
stress. Studies have shown that a student who stays active physically will be more alert and attentive in the classroom.
This covered court can therefore be a place of fun and interactive learning that will simulate a growing child’ mind in
many ways and thereby improve student’s performance.
A covered court is therefore an indispensable facility of every school. Unfortunately, with so many other
maintenance expenses hanging overhead, many schools like ours cannot afford to build one.
