Course Outcomes:
At the end of the course the student will be able to
CO 1 Describe the characteristics of Op-Amps.
CO 2 Design and analyze linear & non-linear circuits using Op-Amp.
CO 3 Illustrate various Filter and Oscillator circuits and Design Timers
CO 4 Illustrate various ADC, DAC Converters
CO 5 Outline the concepts of different logic families and Analyze CMOS
steady state and dynamic electrical behavior.
UNIT-I (08 Lectures)
INTRODUCTION TO ICS:
Integrated circuits-Types, Classification of IC, Package Types and
temperature ranges. Op-Amp Block Diagram, ideal and practical Op-
Amp specifications. 741 Op-Amp & its features, DC and AC
characteristics: Input & Output Offset voltages & currents, slew rate,
CMRR, PSRR, Drift, Frequency Compensation techniques.
UNIT-II (11 Lectures)
APPLICATIONS OF OP- AMPS:
Inverting and Non-inverting amplifier, Integrator and differentiator,
Difference amplifier, Voltage to current and current to Voltage converters,
Comparators, Schmitt Trigger, Multi vibrators, Triangular and Square
wave generators.
UNIT–III (11 Lectures)
ACTIVE FILTERS, OSCILLATORS AND TIMERS:
Butter worth filters– 1st order LPF, HPF filters, Band pass, Band reject

and All pass filters, Oscillators –RC and Wien bridge oscillators
Timers: Introduction to 555 timer, functional diagram, Monostable and
Astable Operations and applications, 555 timers as Schmitt Trigger, PLL.
UNIT-IV (8 Lectures)
D/A & A/D CONVERTERS:
Introduction, basic DAC techniques, weighted resistor DAC, R-2R ladder
DAC, inverted R-2R DAC. Different types of ADCs - parallel comparator
type ADC, counter type ADC, successive approximation ADC and dual
slope ADC, DAC and ADC Specifications.
UNIT-V (12 Lectures)
LOGIC FAMILIES:
Introduction to logic families, RTL, DTL, TTL, Schottky TTL and Emitter
coupled logic, NMOS, PMOS, CMOS logic, CMOS logic families,
Comparison of logic families.
CMOS INTERFACING:
CMOS steady state and dynamic electrical behavior, CMOS/TTL
interfacing, low voltage CMOS logic and interfacing
