Purpose of position

The mission is to drive improvement in overall Network quality and ensure the
Network performs optimally in terms of its design, operation and service delivery

Detailed Description

Key Tasks: Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the
position

� Design and implement mechanisms and structures that will ensure optimum network
availability and utilization through effective network performance monitoring
� Ensure revenue and network service assurance
� Design and ensure policies and plans that manage company disaster recovery and
business continuity
� Develop and manage interface with regulatory and supervisory agencies on
licensing and quality of service obligations
� Set up and manage service level agreements with service and equipment providers
� Coordinate team to eliminate and resolve network problems, particularly in areas
such as network design and operation
� Drive processes that will ensure network performance analysis, and problem issues
detection
� Ensure processes that drive the effective resolution of escalated queries
� Make network improvement recommendations and ensure that they are integrated into
network planning and operations
� Come up with proactive and reactive solutions to resolve network performance and
quality of service problems; ensure the effective implementation thereof
� Ensure collation and analysis of technical network performance data against
defined parameters and interpret the relevant implications
� Ensure that the measurement criterion including defined MTN OPCO network KPIs and
ITU standards are applied and new ones are developed
� Optimize the use of resources within the NWG
� Ensure and enforce best practice in all aspects of network planning, operation
and service delivery
� Interface with Project implementation team within NWG divisions to monitor every
stage of the BSS rollout
� Ensure inter department collaboration / interface with other departments within
the OPCO
� Manage the provision of specialist technical support to all other departments
within the OPCO regarding the core network and radio related problems
� Maintain accurate and thorough knowledge of the network at all times
� Opex and Capex Management � provide input to Capex Steercom
� Input into yearly Business Plan
� Manage budget on a daily basis
� Ensure adherence to Group Process and Initiatives
