Target Participant & Profile Grade 9 Science Teachers

OBJECTIVES: At the end of the session the teachers should have been able to
Terminal Objective: understand the molecular mechanism of cellular respiration and
appreciate the significance of this biochemical process.

Enabling Objectives: The participants shall be able to skilfully deliver with full mastery the topic
on cellular respiration to students after the session.

Teachers are always on the lookout in finding ways to improve teaching-

learning process. Strategies are introduced to up breast themselves of the latest
trends in teaching.

Activity-based learning approach which includes practical or actual work is

critical in learning Science. It engages learners to a mode that promotes creative
thinking and self-paced learning that lead to mastery.

Key Understanding
DepEd Order 32, s. 2016, created the LAC Session is a must which is
conducted in every school. In this session, teachers work collaboratively and
participate actively to improve teaching-learning process by sharing effective
strategies and activities, new pedagogical approaches, latest-trends and issues
that need to be resolved for educational purposes.

The activity presented during the LAC session will not only let students
understand the concept behind molecular mechanism of cellular respiration but
to better relate the concept or skills acquired into purposeful life-long learning.

The foremost role of a teacher is to improve teaching-learning process and this can only be done
providing opportunities by nurturing their knowledge and competencies in terms of instructions.

In connection to this, may I request permission to conduct a LAC session on July 31, 2019 on the
CELLULAR RESPIRATION at the Computer Lab. 5, 10:00 am July 31, 2019 . Participants in this activity will
be the Grade 9 teachers.

The objectives of the said LAC session are the following:

1. Present the result of the Item Analysis for SY 2018-2019

2. Present a lecture presentation on Cellular Respiration on the following concepts:
a. Principles of oxidation reduction reaction
b. Substrate level phosphorylation on Glycolysis and Tricarboxylic acid cycle
c. Oxidative phosphorylation:
Electron transport chain and Chemiosmosis
