ASSIGNMENT ON RENEWABLE ENERGY

1. What do you think is the best Renewable Energy Source in Ontario?

Wind is the best renewable energy source in Ontario. However, windmill

are still in its nascent stage contribute 6% of total electricity production.
(National Energy Board ,2015). Similar to anywhere else, Hydro Energy is
the most contributing renewable source 23% (National Energy Board
,2015).

2. Explain Why you think the best?

There are few important factors which makes the wind energy makes the
best to Ontario.
a. Ontario has more than 1400 KM of shoreline, and the air is humid in
nature as well.
b. In Ontario the cost of generation of wind power became so less, that is
around 6.45 Cents /Kwh.
c. In another 10 years of time wind energy industry contribute 64,500
persons-year employment.
d. Across Ontario, wind energy projects are delivering new income to
landowners, new property tax revenue to municipalities, new funding
for community-based initiatives, and a new source of sustained revenue
for Indigenous partners. Ontario’s wind energy industry is also at the
heart of a growing wind turbine operations and maintenance business
for Canada’s 6,500+ wind turbines. ( Research, canwea.ca )
e. Recent study shows that, 89% of Ontarians are believe the climate
change happening. And 59% are supporting the government policies for
wind energy.

3. What are the benefits of this alternative Energy?

a. Wind energy is fueled by the wind, so it's a clean fuel source.

b. Wind turbines don't produce atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain
or greenhouse gasses.
c. Wind energy is more economical.

4. Can this alternative energy source be used to replace all fossil fuel power
generating station in Ontario? Explain why?

Like any renewable energy source, wind energy has a major drawback. That
is it cannot store for future. Even with recent innovation the generated
energy can store up to 3 days.
Hence wind energy cannot be a source to replace fossil fuel power
generating station.

However, combined use of all forms of energy source can reduce the fossil
fuel generation in Ontario.
