DIONYSOS (Dionysus) was the Olympian god of

wine, vegetation, pleasure, festivity, madness and

wild frenzy. He was depicted as either an older,
bearded god or an effeminate, long-haired youth.
His attributes included the thyrsos (a pine-cone
tipped staff), a drinking cup and a crown of ivy.
HERMES ( Hermes) was the ancient Greek god of
trade, wealth, luck, fertility, animal husbandry,
sleep, language, thieves, and travel. One of the
cleverest and most mischievous of the Olympian
gods, he was the patron of shepherds, invented
the lyre, and was, above all, the herald and
messenger of Mt.
APOLLO (Apollo) was a god in Greek mythology,
and one of the Twelve Olympians. He was the son
of Zeus and Leto and the twin brother of
Artemis. He was the god of healing, medicine and
archery, and of music and poetry. He was the
leader of the Muses. He also was a god of
prophecy, and his Oracle at Delphi was very
important.
Often referred to as the “Father of Gods and
men”, he is a sky god who controls lightning (often
using it as a weapon) and thunder. Zeus is king of
Mount Olympus, the home of Greek gods, where
he rules the world and imposes his will onto gods
and mortals alike.
Ares is the god of war, one of the Twelve
Olympian gods and the son of Zeus and Hera. In
literature Ares represents the violent and
physical untamed aspect of war, which is in
contrast to Athena who represents military
strategy and generalship as the goddess of
intelligence.
Artemis. Artemis, in Greek religion, the goddess
of wild animals, the hunt, and vegetation, and of
chastity and childbirth; she was identified by the
Romans with Diana. Artemis was the daughter
of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo.
Among the rural populace, Artemis was the
favourite goddess.
Poseidon was the god of the sea, earthquakes and
horses. Although he was officially one of the
supreme gods of Mount Olympus, he spent most
of his time in his watery domain. Poseidon was
brother to Zeus and Hades.
Greek Goddess of Agriculture, Fertility, Sacred
Law and the Harvest. Demeter is the goddess of
the harvest and presides over grains and the
fertility of the earth. Although she was most
often referred to as the goddess of the harvest,
she was also goddess of sacred law and the cycle
of life and death.
Greek God of the Dead and King of the
Underworld. Hades was the god of the
underworld and the name eventually came to also
describe the home of the dead as well. He was
the oldest male child of Cronus and Rhea.
Goddess of wisdom, war and the crafts, and
favorite daughter of Zeus, Athena was, perhaps,
the wisest, most courageous, and certainly the
most resourceful of the Olympian gods.
