The Southeast Asian Games also known as SEA Games is a multi-sport event
involving participants from souteast asian countries which was held twice a year.
The Philippines was chosen to host the prestigious event as it marks its 30 years
with a theme "We Win as One". The said event was opened in the Philippine Arena
located in Bocaue Bulacan and was closed in New Clark City Athletics Stadium
located in Capas, Tarlac.

This event is composed of 11 participating nations with 5630 diversed

participating nationals which was officially opened by the President of the of the
Philippines, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte while the lightning of the torch was performed
by Sen. Manny Pacquiao and Mr. Nesthy Petecio. It was then officialy closed by
the Executive Secretary of the Philippines, Salvador Medialdea.

The Republic of the Philippines is known for its warm welcome every time it was
chosen to be a venue of international forums and sports competitions. No wonder
why the Government allocated 7.5 Billion pesos to accomodate diffrent nationals of
our neigboring countries. Despite government's effort and eagerness to fulfill the
nation's task, some netizens criticize the budget allocation and decisions of the
committee handling in the preparation of the SEA Games. It was quite saddening
that these netizens giving negative comments forget the true meaning of having
this kind of event and it can be gleaned on its own motto "We win as one".

We win as one does not apply only to the competition proper but also in the
outside world, and that is if Filipinos have unity and cooperation they can achieved
one goal and that is prosperity. We should be proud of those people trying to
represent the Philippines well including the Government who gave its best to give
world-class facilities, sports venues, food, and performances to all the
participants. We should also be proud to our own representative as most of them
brought the bacon home. In this time we should be proud of them and should
support them because these people are our "kababayan" trying to give honor in
our nation.
As we hosted the SEA Games, other countries not within the Southeast Asia look
out for our country also as a host for bigger sports competitions. This is not just a
privilege for our country but a privilege for every Filipino as they looked us as
someone who are capable of challenges and capable of uniting everyone.
