Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like.

Its purpose is to
describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing.” (teks yang menjelaskan gambaran
seseorang atau benda. Tujuannya adalah mengambarkan atau mengungkapkan orang, tempat atau
benda tertentu)

 Generic Structure of Descriptive Text

1. Identification : Identifies phenomenon (person, place, or thing) that will be described. (berisi
tentang identifikasi hal / seorang yang akan dideskripsikan.)

2. Description : Describes parts, qualities, characteristics, etc (berisi tentang penjelasan /

penggambaran tentang hal / seseorang dengan menyebutkan beberapa sifatnya.)

 The Characteristics / Language Feature of Descriptive Text:

– Specific participant : memiliki obyek tertentu, tidak bersifat umum dan unik (hanya ada satu)

misalnya : bandengan beach, my house, borobudur temple, uncle Joko

– Penggunaan adjective (kata sifat) untuk memperjelas noun (kata benda)

misalnya : a beautiful beach, a handsome man, the famous place in jepara dll

– Penggunaan simple present tense : Pola kalimat yang digunakan adalah simple present karena
menceritakan fakta dari obyek deskripsi.

– Action verbs : terdapat kata kerja yang menunjukkan sebuah kegiatan (aktifitasnya bisa dilihat)
misalnya : run, sleep, walk, cut dll.

She was born in Jakarta on December 19, 1994. Maudy is a good looking girl. She has thin lips,
oval face, and short black hair. She has a very nice smile, an innocent look and very friendly to
people. Her hobbies are singing, swimming, writing, and playing musical instrument. She can
play piano and guitar. She likes to create a song using guitar and piano. Maudy's favorite singers
are Tompi, Agnes Monica, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift. She thinks that they influence her

LAPTOP

I got my laptop in the first year of college. It was a gift from my father to me. I was very
happy because it was my first laptop. I do a lot of things with it such as watch movie, play
games, listen to my favorite songs and I also use it to complete my college assignment.

The body of my laptop contains the CPU. On the top side of the body, there is a power
button located on the top-left side. In line with the power button is the speaker of my laptop.
After that, we will also see the keyboard of the laptop occupying the top side of the body. The
colour of the keyboard is also black. There is also a touchpad located right under the keyboard.
Some important parts were attached into the side framework of the body, such as DVD room,
USB port, power jack, projector port, ventilation system, land line port, and also HDMI port just
in case I want to connect my laptop to TV.

SERAYA ISLAND

Small Seraya Island or better known as Seraya Island is an island located in West
Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara, or it is about ten kilometers north of the city center
Labuanbajo. This island is small and has a coastline for about one kilometer. But this island has
an incredible beauty and is an ideal place to calm you up or for honeymoon. A visit to this island
will make you feel to own an island and a private beach.

The presented landscape will certainly fascinate everyone who visits it. The beach at this
island has white sand and the water is quite clear and bluish completed by its underwater beauty.
Even when the tide is low, you can walk out to the sea for about 500 meters from the coast.
Various activities can be done in this place, such as fishing, swimming and snorkeling.

Besides presenting the natural beauty, the island also presents the underwater beauty. It is
because the local communities still adhere to their principles for not using equipment such as
bomb or cyanide to catch fish. So that environmental sustainability can be maintained very well.
