4. How does the repressor protein regulate the lac Operon?

Repressor = blockage

During the absence of lactose, the repressor protein will bind with the operator site.
Thus, causing a blockage for the RNA polymerase from synthesising any mRNA.
However, during the presence of lactose, it (lactose) will bind to the active site of the
repressor protein causing a conformational change towards the repressor protein
preventing them from binding to the operator site. Preventing the RNA polymerase to
synthesise polycystronic strand to create lactose.
