A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 8

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

a. Illustrate theorems on triangle inequalities

b. Apply theorems on triangle inequalities to determine possible measures for the
angles and sides of triangles.

II. Subject Matter

A. Topic: Triangle Inequalities

B. Reference: Mathematics Learner’s Material 8
C. Materials: television, chalk & board, laptop, hand outs, flash cards

III. Procedure

A. Routine Activity
 Setting the Classroom
 Checking of attendance

B. Motivation
 The students will be watching a video clip and answer the questions that will be
asked, flash cards will be shown too.

C. Lesson Proper
 Recall different kinds of triangle
 Illustrate theorems on triangle inequalities
 Apply theorems on triangle inequalities to determine possible measures for the
angles and sides of triangles.
 Examples will be given after discussion

D. Generalization
Ask the following questions to the students to know what they have learned on
the discussed lesson
1. How will you illustrate theorems on triangle inequalities?
2. How will you apply theorems on triangle inequalities to determine possible
measures for the angles and sides of triangles?

E. Application
 Let the students answer the given questions on the Kahoot.it application.
(Cooperative Learning)
IV. Evaluation

Decide whether each set of numbers can make a triangle.

1) 15, 12, 9

2) 20, 10, 9
3) 47, 28, 70
4) 5, 10, 15
5) 12, 2.2, 14.3

The measures of two sides are given. Between what two numbers must the
third side fall. Write an inequality to represent your answer.

6) 9 and 15

7) 11 and 20

8) 23 and 14

9) 5 and 8

10) 15 and 18

V. Assignment
 The students will answer the “ACTIVITY 6” on page 429 on their book.
