Charachter_1 : 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. Look baba, they all fit in nicely!
There are no eggs leftover.
Character_2 : Yes! Because 10 is an EVEN number. It can be
evenly shared into pairs. Just like you did.
Character_1 : Ah! I like even numbers as it is easy to make
pairs.
Character_1 : Baba, how come there are only 9 eggs? Is 1
chicken not feeling well?
Character_2 : It’s okay Tina! Some days a chicken does not
lay an egg because of many reasons.
So don’t worry, this chicken is not sick. Now, can you please
put these eggs in the case?
Character_1 : But baba I cannot count in 2s when there are
9 eggs. There will be 1 egg without its pair. I think 9 is not
an even number.
Character_2 : You are right Tina! When you cannot share
evenly into pairs, and 1 is always leftover, these are called
ODD numbers. Can you think of an odd number other than
9?
Character_1 : Look! There are the 3 birds on the tree. There
is no pair for the third bird. Therefore, 3 is an ODD number.
Character_2 : Well done Tina!
Character_1 : I am going to tell everyone in the class today
about even and odd numbers.

Alarms rings at 6 a.m. Tina gets up in excitement and
rushes towards her chickens in the back garden.
She smiles when she sees all her 10 chickens have laid
eggs. She puts them in an egg case while counting in 2s.
Numbers appears as she counts and puts the eggs in an
egg case.
